Brilliant photos once again jrb.I wonder what the whole area will look like in 10 years time?
By that time the media will have changed sides and will be holding City up as the example of how to run a football club properly.
For a Blue you're surprisingly optimistic ;)

England won the Battle of Waterloo on the playing fields of Eton,or so the saying goes.
England won the 2026 World Cup on the former site of Clayton Aniline.
Now there's optimism for you!

I'm not sure we'll ever be held up as the model of how to run a football club well, simply because we aren't a typical model, and were it not for the Sheik's investment, we'd most likely be the precise opposite - quite poorly run.

In many way, it was probably because we could be turned around with proper management that we were an attractive proposition.

That's not to say that we aren't doing some very good things right now - we are, but it's not something a typical club can aspire to is it?

Certainly not with FFPR around.

Well done Mr Platini, a sterling job sir...

I think MCFC is being run as a Business Cost Centre by the people Sheik M. employ to do exactly that (ADUG).

He is probably judging them on their adherence to their Business Plan that he approved part of which is results on the field and part of which is how it financially succeeds.
Many other objectives are obviously included in the 'Plan' but that's what he employs them to do so he takes a detached view of the day to day running and will no doubt have his say at say quarterly Board Meetings.

Unusual in the Sports world but most well run businesses have a similar approach.

Well it's not is it? How many clubs can afford to build what we are building?
If we were to seriously say "look at us, and how to run things well' the first criticism people would make (and they'd be justified) is 'yeah, great, but how can WE create world class facilities with no money? or expand our stadium, or hire in the level of management City have?'.

That's not to say City aren't well run, it's just saying it's not a realistic model for most clubs. We are now amongst half a dozen clubs in the world who can actually operate the way we do now.

If 10 years ago, people said "City should be doing what Barca and Real and United do" we'd have said "erm, nice idea, but how can we when don't have their funds?' - that's what other clubs will say of City now.

We are probably more an example of most clubs fantasy come true than realistic model for them to copy.
