Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

When i passed earlier today. a huge yellow crane vehicle with all sorts of struts was in place with what looked like box sections of the white fixed crane that is in the video released last week, at a guess they are probably going to put this white crane together this weekend, hence the road closures?

Does anyone else think the club are missing a trick with all the developments?

As this thread, other forums and Twitter proves there is huge interest in the developments and yet the club do next to nothing on social media.

I would have thought daily pics, weekly updates etc would be well worth it.

It might be a feature of the 'City Today" thing they have on throughout the season. If not, it might be worth suggesting it on the hashtag when they start up again. And maybe a few others too, to show there is demand for it.

Was at the ground yesterday. Large yellow crane was in place. White steel work (box shape) was being delivered and lifted into place on the outside of the present south stand. Inside the ground the video screens are being put up around level one. The front three rows were being dug out but I just couldn't see how it will work in relation to the pitch. The two large screens have also been removed. Pitch was looking good.

Silly question, but didn't you take any photos?....this thread thrives of images!

He knows the rules - either he puts pictures on, or it never happened.

I do have pictures. How do I get them from photobucket onto here?

Sorry for that - I meant to put a load more into it but clicked on 'Submit' prematurely

I don't believe it was me who said it was impossible - just that there was a need to retain the cablenet.

My renders (which GX did say were close to the truth) always retained the cable net but assumed the newly raised roof would not be as high as what the final design has turned out to be and would snook in UNDER the cablenet at the front and thus wouldn't need anything like those two complicated contraptions which will ACTUALLY be supporting the new end roof (above the retained cablenet)

These renders were created November 2012

You did a decent job tbf.

I wonder if they plan to remove the cable net eventually and thus the original supports? All 4 sides would probably have to be done by then so this would be years away.

In the design doc it says a possible solution to doing the sides would be to demolish the existing third tier and rebuilding to make best use of the available space.

Wouldn't it be great if this happened and one huge grandstand was constructed above the existing two tiers? Similar in scale to the one at Barca.

Look at that pic and imagine the Etihad's first two tiers were the lower bowl and first block in the next tier.

If they want to get a stadium as big as is rumoured then something like the above might not be far off in terms of their long term thinking.

You should do a mock up :)

Look at this pic and see what it is actually like.
