So when will be the expansion ready? When will be the first home game when it can be maximum capacity? Its not gonna be ready for the opening Pool game, is it?

On Football manager a small (1000-2000 extra places) expansion takes only a short time usually but little bit bigger like ours are usually ready around middle of October if its started end of the previous season.:))

You can't honestly think there is a small chance it will be ready for Liverpool?? Have you not seen the pictures?

Start of next season pal, 15/16

Multi-million pound swimming pool planned for the heart of Beswick

A multi-million pound swimming pool will be built in the heart of Beswick under plans to overhaul the city’s leisure facilities.

The £6.5m pool, which will be on Grey Mare Lane, will replace the Miles Platting swimming baths on Varley Street.

Council bosses say the plans will save more than £100,000 every year.

As the Advertiser reported last week, Manchester City Football Club will help fund the scheme and has pledged cash for the project as part of its new Etihad Campus in east Manchester.

The Blues will stump up £3m for the baths – half the cost – with the other half met through funding from Sport England and national sports governing bodies.

Town hall bosses say the Miles Platting centre is run-down, too expensive to run and poor value for money.

The swimming pools were built in 1978.

It is the only pool in Manchester – apart from the Aquatics Centre – which has an all-deep pool at two metres, which means it’s suitable for playing water polo.

That has attracted the GB Water Polo programme to the city and has encouraged the development of the City of Manchester Water Polo Club.

But the building is old and would cost more than £400,000 to maintain over the next 10 years.

Despite facing huge cuts forced by the government’s spending review, the town hall believes it can find the money to fund the scheme – and will save cash in the long run.

Of the scheme, Coun Mike Amesbury, Manchester’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: "These innovative proposals will mean state-of-the-art leisure facilities for residents of east Manchester.

"Just as significantly, they will save money over time in maintenance and running costs."

The closure of Miles Platting pool was announced last February as part of the council’s programme of spending cuts, following a 21 per cent reduction in its grant money from government.

There is no timescale for completing the projects but the management contract for the council’s leisure facilities is up for renewal in 2014

The new leisure facility including swimming pool is going up on Grey Mare Lane as proposed. Went past it yesterday and it should be finished by the end of the year end.

MMU links up with Manchester City

11th July 2014

By James Graham - Deputy Editor, North West

MANCHESTER City FC has announced a 10-year educational tie-up with Manchester Metropolitan University.

It said the partnership, which also includes the city council, would "enhance the sporting and educational legacy in the city".

In a statement the university said it would cover a variety of programmes that will create a platform for community engagement and sports development.

This will include educational opportunities for city's male and female players and career development programmes for MMU students.

Vice chancellor Professor John Brooks said: “This is an exciting relationship which reflects our shared values in the communities that we serve and build on of vision of a city of sport, health and opportunity. Working with an organisation like Manchester City FC will expand the university’s potential audience and allow both local and international students opportunities to improve their skills and employment outlook.”

Jon Stemp, chief infrastructure officer at City Football Group, said: “MCFC, MMU and Manchester City Council share a common set of values and priorities, which is what makes this partnership so special. We all believe in the value of education, as evidenced in our academy programmes and work with the Connell College, in developing good people, and in bringing world class sport to our communities.

“Manchester City has been deeply rooted in the city for more than 120 years, and the Club’s foundation for 27 years. This unique relationship allows us to continue and grow that commitment with our trusted partners.”

The 70m arm is getting put on tomorrow from the main road, not enough room to do it inside the stadium area. Screens in the ground are down and being replaced by new state of the art ones, level two electronic advertising hoardings are nearly finished around the whole stadium
