The new Six Form looks very impressive close-up. Amazing to think there are 350 students already in there. The landscaping is now going on and the new trees look really well.

As the Leisure Centre will be ready by the end of October, anyone know what will happen to the now closed Police Station. It's in a prime site looking over towards the College and Leisure Centre. There must be plans for it?

Possibly going to be refurbished as an office complex, they've just finished filming Scott and Bailey there .

Cheers mate!

If I have read the sign correctly a small stretch of Grey Mare is to become pedestrianised.

Don't know if this is fake pedestrianised ie with a sign banning cars or will actually be a proper barrier.

If you park a St Brigids/Mary D's and come from Ashton Old Road you may have to go round

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

you read it right but there's going to be a new junction on Alan Turing Way with a link road thru to Grey Mare Lane

Ok thanks for that. Use it to get to the match but also most days to get to work

Very true about the new link road from Alan Turing Way to Grey Mare Lane
There is bad news though, coming to the match will be fine but getting away will be horrendous as there will be no right turn back on to Alan Turing Way from the new link road all traffic using this will have to turn left towards Asda!

They were painting the floor of the bridge when I drove past about an hour ago. Sat at the lights waiting to see if one of them lifted his brush up to see what the colour was, to no avail. My money is on white although it could be blue same as Joe Mercer Way. There is now a continuous run of steelworks around most of the outside of the South Stand.

a bridge with no right hand side? waynes bridge

sorry

If Phones4U do go bump, we should be all over it like white on rice.

They currently sponsor the concert arena and it would seem a decent opportunity to get something for such a small outlay?

The Manchester City Arena or the Etihad Arena?

Why not buy the arena knock it down as it looks shit
build a lovely new 5 star hotel on it with excellent tram link to the stadium already
then also build a lovely new shiny 25000 indoor arena on the land around the stadium
FFP n all that

Questions

If the South Stand (extra 6,000 seats) and the 3 extra rows around the pitch (extra 1,000 seats) are to be finished during the summer of 2015 and ready for use in August 2015 (taking capacity to 55,000) when\will the North Stand work start and be ready for, or does the North Stand expansion require regular filling of the the extra capacity first at 55,000, before any decision will be taken to match the South Stand expansion in the North Stand?

Also where will City Square be moved to during the final expansion phase ?

Another point
Other clubs are of course also planning expansion\getting new stadia. If we want to ensure we have the second highest club capacity in England\UK (and hopefully can fill it) at just over 61,000, just behind that of Utd, wont we need to in fact start work on the North Stand next summer also and have that ready for 2016 - 2017 season ?

Other clubs expansions:
Liverpool
Current Stadium
45,522
Expanded Stadium
54,000 (Aug 2016)
58,800 (no date yet – depends upon demand for tickets)

Tottenham Hotspur
Current Stadium
36,310
New Stadium
58,000 (Aug 2018 - delayed from Aug 2017)

West Ham Utd
Current Stadium
35,303
New Stadium (Olympic Park)
54,000 (Aug 2016)

Everton
Current Stadium
40,158
(new ground being looked at)

Chelsea
Current Stadium
42,055
(new ground being looked at)

Man City
47,726
46,708 (2014 – reduced capacity whilst stadium is in the process of being expanded)
Expanded Stadium
Phase 1 and Phase 2 -
54,000 (South Stand 6,000 seats) (Aug 2015)
55,000 (3 rows around the ground = 1,000 seats) (Aug 2015)
Phase 3 -
61,000 (North Stand 6,000 seats) (no date yet ?)

Other Notes
61,000 would put us at about 14th in European stadium capacities I believe
If we get gates of 61,000 it would put us 2nd highest on attendances in England and 7th highest in all of Europe

Surely better to have the extra capacity (61,000) even if we don't quite fill it for all games. Even Bayern last night with a rapacity of 71,000 got 61,000 (not sure how much that was due to Ueafa requiring seating though) and Barcelona with a 99,000 capacity get ~ 72,000 and Madrid with a capacity of 81,000 get an average of 71,000. Thus even if we can get 95 % attendance for 61,000 capacity that would be a good number. Of course success and cheaper prices will determine this.

Just stop at knocking it down. The we can turn Victoria into the lovely Victorian station it used to be but also make it work for the 21st century.

Then build a decent arena on our own land.
