Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

The video is awesome and come to think, this time next year it will almost be a reality! (With the added bonus of the extra 3 rows at pitch side!) - I suppose it would be to cheeky to ask for a video showing how the 3 rows will be added in the near future!? Exciting times indeed!

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

I honestly can't believe any City fan would moan about this.

You aint had the previous pleasure of Drivel then.
Two things:

1. It wasn't a moan, it was just an observational comment on my personal preference. If you read the corresponding posts, by all accounts the club are looking to address my observations either in 2018 or into the 2020's. I just further commented 'wouldn't it make sense just to do it all now'?

2. In respect to you - Empty vessels & all that.

Haha,you soft twat.

It might be an engineering issue, but I don't get why we didn't just go for a symmetrical joining of the seating which would give us a bigger capacity and look better IMO.

There's still gaps between the stands and the top level of seating still slopes down either side. Surely this expansion would have been the ideal opportunity to do this?

Personally I like the look of it being a specific stand rather than a wrap around like Emirates or Wembley, when we do the North Stand the ground will look fantastic with four clearly defined stands.

I agree. Too many stadiums look the same these days and I think our new stands will look brilliant. It will look even better in ten years when we do extend the east and Colin bell stands to a massive bowl shape stadium.

Ca I make an "observational comment"?

You've consistently proved yourself on this forum to be vociferous and opinionated on subjects you know close to nothing about.

And engineering clearly sits alongside football in your lexicon.

That's something that will be sorted in the future according the design doc. The slightly circular shape of the tier will remain but it will be a lot bigger. Similar to the new South tier.

According to the doc, the options are to either demolish the current third tier and rebuild or stitch extra rows onto the existing section.
So I'm 'eventually' going to get my a symmetrical stadium then? Still don't see why they don't help my OCD settle down by doing it all in this faze. We're great a building businesses and football clubs, but rubbish at time & motion efficiency unless I'm still missing summat.

Also I wish they'd draw the design doc in crayon so the average dude can understand it too!! :-)

It will be symmetrical. Just not in as many axes as previously.

Respect to the cameraman for flying through the middle of all that construction work. Very steady hand considering the risk to life and limb.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

Very impressive. Watching the video it looks like it will be done without too many disruptions.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

Planning permission has also been granted for a third phase which could see a further c.6,000 seats and a total capacity of c.61,000, making the Etihad the second largest stadium in the Premier League.
Could or will? So the North Stand expansion depends on whether we fill the 55,000? I suppose that should go without saying

I agree. I really like the fact that the first two tiers are the modern bowl type arrangement that maximizes capacity but that the third tiers are
the traditional separate stand football ground type set up. I think that we will get the best of both worlds when the North Stand is completed.
The stadium will have a modern yet unique feel about it and should be visually stunning.

According to RAWk the only reason we are expanding is so Mansour can buy another 6000 season tickets for non-existent fans to beat FFP.
Yes, they do actually believe that.

Yes, they do actually believe that.

They also believe that Suarez is being victimised. Ignore them they live in a parallel universe to the rest of us.

no problem whatsoever filling the south stand extension plus the new three rows of seats all the way around the front but we wouldnt have been able to sell out if the both ends had been done at the same time, a few back to back titles and a couple of fa cups and a few decent runs in the champions lge and they will be queuing up, no reason whatsoever that city cant or wont be pulling in crowds of 75k by 2020 ground size permitting

That will fuck up the four "separate stands"! We will have to fill in the corners if we want to go much above 70,000.

I refer you to point 2. You clearly have nothing better to occupy yourself with as per usual.

'vociferous and opinionated on subjects you know close to nothing about' - Coming from a Champion Gum Flapper with an invisible 'dossier of facts' The irony..........

Don't worry, Suarez was their big get out of jail card for FFP and his value may just have dropped by half. Next year if they are in a UEFA competition, theu would most likely fail FFP. And if that competition is not the CL, well they'll go back to where they were

it wont matter because they wont finish top four next season the amount of games will kill them, united are a dead cert to replace them

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

regarding the way that the stands were originally laid out, there was a design brief that no seat would be more than 100m away from the centre spot, so the north and south stand being at the ends of the oblong could not go as high as the Colin Bell and east stand along the sides.

In order for the expansion to take place this restriction has been relaxed
