The thing I find slightly odd about this is how we seem to be taking our time with the south stand.nothing much seemed to be happening till after the concerts .then when ever you see any picture taken during any part of the day it just seems to be 3 blokes and a wheelbarrow. Would have thought with the new season so close you would have been able to see a blob of high viz jackets from outta space
I was at the ground on Friday and it was swarming with yellow jackets. Alot of the current work is hidden in the stands creating the supports for when they cut the wires holding the roof to build over it

"The wires" are not being cut if they were the rest of the roof would collapse. Look at the final renderings and you will see that the new structure is built around existing supports and the CableNet system remains fully in place supporting the new roof . Having said that you are spot-on about the work going on inside building structure to support the new tier

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

Does anyone know the following as I'm finding conflicting info on the Internet:

1) when our academy will be fully finished and operational?

2) when the first phase of the stadium expansion will be completed?

3) when the second (final) phase of the expansion will be completed?

Thanks

1)4-5 Months as per City employee Danny Lennon on Twitter.
2)Expected "Summer 2015"
3)Most of us think when the South Stand finishes, but a poster on here said possibly November.(cannot see it as the cranes will be in use for 6 months straight. They are of the size that means we'd use the exact same one rather than asking for another one of the same size. It wouldn't make sense financially.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

Not starting full construction in November at North end but starting enabling works which means diverting the services and hv which runs at the north end. The crane was specifically made for this project by the way.

campus is now due to be open in October

the south stand is due to be open on the 1st home game of the 2015-16 season while the pitch-side seats you might be looking to be open for the final games of the season

with regards to the north stand it would be looking the same timeframe as the south stand so around Feb 2015 start and open for the 2016-17 season depending if the season ticket demand increases hope that helps

you might see certain places moved from north stand like city square and the store possibly being relocated

Is the October date not just the mini-stadium staging the match? Accommodation for 40 Academy players was listed on the features. One of them would be mentioning the move by now I suspect.

At a recent local resident meeting Pete Bradshaw and Danny Wilson said the 1st team are due to move in during the November international break

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

One of the things I forgot to add is that the stadium roof is currently designed to absorb noise. It is designed so that noise at one end can't be heard at the other. If you look up you will see thousands of holes in the roof cladding ( not leaks) - this is being changed on the 2 ends so that the noise will be reflective. Will make a huge change to the stadium acoustics.

What a shit design for a football stadium stadium....is that really true?

Not if fans sit on their arses and eat prawn sandwiches it will make no difference. :-)

Taken from Shudehill car park this Afternoon.

Part of my city centre update.

Will do the Etihad and training academy later on in the week or when the 3rd crane is fully erected.

I went past the ground on the Sheffield to Piccadilly train today and the 3rd crane is now fully erected.

Not suggesting it's time for more photos. Just a little update of what I saw

It will be noisy if we ever play Lech Poznan or Aris again

I' surprised at this news.

When I am in the South Stand Upper, I can't hear the South Stand Lower and vice versa, but when I am in another stand the noise travels.

It doesn't compare to being at the back of the North Stand at maine Rd because there the roof was so low you could almost touch it. You could sing, and feel the vibration, but at Maine Rd I don't think the sound travelled as well around the ground. It was more open

Well I could hear the Dortmund and Poznan fans fine right from the other end of the ground, it's about people just singing IMO, the stadium has little effect

Totally logical thinkinkig about it .if you had say the long jump at one end .and some sort of running on the track.and something else in the middle .I guess you would want muted sound ?

Thank fuck. I've often thought that an excessive amount of noise escapes from the ground due to the angle and distance from the fans of the roof.

*Re-reads* You mean when both ends of the stadium are done, those parts of the roof will reflect sound waves. Don't you?
