Seeing the future go up is more exciting than seeing the past being dismantled. The future is always more exciting as the moment has yet to be lived

You guys are at least proving my point that no one was damn interested in Maine Road books! :(
I'dve thought City history geeks like you guys who like looking at pics like jrbs would have also (and there is room to like both you know!) liked/been interested in our history coming down.... But each response in this thread has been "nah, coming down is crap, going up is amazing!" (slight paraphrase there!).

Well, at least i have my own self published book (i only made 5 copies, for family, as i knew from the off no one else was interested!) to look through when i want to relive how it felt to be the one actually stood there watching my beloved Maine Road come down, i could tell you how they got the main stand roof off in one piece in a dramatic 30 seconds engineering feat, or seeing the original mosaic that had been hidden behind swales brickwork since the 70s get left there to be thrown away, or a dramatic picture of the kippax where the broken girders looked like a giant "K", even getting on what was left of the pitch myself..
I enjoyed it, in a sad goodbye kind of way, but not one person here has even shown any interest in anything other than the future - you've been very well programmed ;)
Anyway, i only started posting about this to warn against pipe dreams of doing books - there will not be the interest and it would cost you too much money :(

You need to post some pics up, people would definitely want to see part of our history, albeit being dismantled...

I try to avoid pictures of Maine Road being pulled down, the cleared site or the redevelopment of the area.
I remember doing a tour of the old place a week or two after the Southampton game with my dad & a mate. The club had thrown the place
open for the day so that people could have one last look around. The Gene Kelly's had been dismantled but the rest of the stadium was intact.
Even then it was still one of the top 20 stadiums in the country. I vowed that day never to return. I've never left Wilmslow Road and gone down
Platt Lane since and never will. For me and I'm sure for many others Maine Road still exists. The last thing I want is confirmation that it's gone
in the form of a book. I bought Gary's book "Fairwell to Maine Road" celebrating the life of the "old girl" but a book showing her death, no thanks.
It's an emotional thing really. Maybe future generations might be interested in your work but for those of us who grew up going there it's not
something we really want to see. I'm surprised you had the stomach to do it. As you said it was a sad goodbye kind of thing. It's not that people
aren't interested as such it's just too painful a subject.

Probably the wrong website for this; but look at all that wasted space in the foreground of this image. Huge swathes of land wasted as it's used for car parks. That's a real shame and I hope with the development boom we seem to be approaching in our city centre that we can address some of this awful town planning that we have in an abundance.

Between Granada TV and the ring road the further along being lined up for development, bottom right grass more residential. No empty space in 10 years.

I like the 2nd tier LED's. Very slick. Should look awesome on the night games.

Only team I can find with them on 2nd tier are Miami Dolphins..

I wonder if they have changed the bulbs at last?

This is from the match preview email I received today.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow night.

so as i expected the back row (from where I was relocated) is being used to accommodate the hoardings only. we've been told by the club that this row is to be removed permanently. Can't see it myself. I expect it to be reinstated next season.

Saturday afternoon the Allan Turing Way was closed-off between the new Leisure Center and the Campus,Is the Road now open,it would be chaos if closed for Monday night,

Serious here mate. But have you considered doing a book using your piccies, some of the narrative on here and perhaps a proper writer helping out.

I think it would be a superb project to do and something many blues would be really interested in.

Agreed.
"Building The Dream"
seems a suitable title...

Does anyone know the logic behind having the Blue pitch at CFA?
