Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

This is an excellent read and is why Manchester and Abu Dhabi are so perfectly matched.

I've said it many times but City are very lucky to have Manchester CC and Howard Bernstein and ADUG should count themselves very lucky to have bough a great club in an even greater city with some great local leaders.

My partner and step daughter thought they were safe.(level 2)

They informed me tonight they aren't, and will have to move as they can't afford the new prices on level 2 next season.

Both aren't happy about moving, as they like their seats and the view of the match, but what can they do?

Welcome to the harsh reality of Market forces, however there are thousands of blues who have already been priced out altogether let alone just having to move to another area of the ground.
Indeed. Even the match day tickets are getting close to the point where I can't justify the outlay any more. £50 for a ticket for Newcastle next weekend. Couple that with air fares and hotel accommodation (neither of which are the club's doing, granted) and the weekend will knock me back somewhere between £200 - £250. It's gradually becoming a rich man's hobby now.
I didn't realise you were going to the Newcastle game, jim. Why haven't you mentioned this before?

In 201 I have a stay of execution - I suspect they'll rise to pushing £1,500 when they get around to completing the North Stand Expansion - and I'll have a decision to make... if City will do a monthly direct debit (rather than the four bi-monthly payments) I think I can hang on...

130ish a month......wow.....I think you'll be amongst the privileged few.To watch football? it seems a ridiculous amount.....but I might add, only if you cant afford it!
Maybe but have a look around you and ask what you spend £130 a month on - or put another way £30 a week? You can lose that on a Friday or Saturday night quite easily in Beer and a takeaway. A meal out once a week maybe. Fags, Sky TV etc etc... Everyone's "whats acceptable" is different, but for me, right now I can stand that, and more importantly the grief level from her indoors is manageable (though away games and European trips on top make it a tougher ask)

Footnote - we should organise a whip round for jrb - to fund his most excellent photo diary of the Stadium and Academy builds...

Haha! Fair play to you jim.

I'm away in Morocco for that one I'm afraid pal, but I'll make a point of dropping you a pm to arrange a pint next time you're over. My shout.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of notice when that is btw ;-)

Probably not again this season gdm; my point about the cost of getting over to games still stands. It's pricey, and hard to keep on justifying it. By the way; what sort of fan are you? Morocco, over the delights of the sun setting in East Manchester, the wit and Bonhomie in Mary D's and cheering on God's own? Pfft.

I sympathize,I'm in a similar position, but if they took the price down to 30 would you get to anymore games ? I know for me it's the whole weekend taken up and the other costs that determine the number of games I get to not the ticket price.
That said that's not a reason ticket prices shouldn't be reduced, just that it won't help me much.

Probably not, if I'm honest. But it'd be a gesture from the club, and an acknowledgement that ticket prices are getting beyond the reach of the average Joe Soap.

No, I haven't been drinking!

Gloryhunter, eh? Newcastle not big enough for you then? Fair enough.

Is there a mod on duty tonight?
