Are the third tiers of the Colin bell and East Stand being extended slightly towards the new South Stand?

Depends on your point of view. As I understand it, it's more that the south stand is 'wrapping around' to meet the CB and East Stand corners. Two sides of the same coin really, as at point, the corners must meet!

Unless they've changed plans, it's the CB and East that are being extended at the ends by a little bit. The rest of the gap will have a big screen.

I think it's the same difference really, from the outside, it just looks more like the Southstand wrapping around as far as the first spiral either side. If you're inside though, the extra seating is, as you say, in the CB and East stand.

Can't wait for the roof to come off so we can get a real feel for the enormity of it from the inside. When both ends are done, it'll be far more like a cauldron than a bowl!

I'm assuming it was a burst water main today, as there was a whole load of deep water by the stadium corner where the bridge to the Academy is.

Log flume preparations, keep up.

Looking at these pics , I cant wait for the final phase of the stadium expansion to complete when the other two stands are altered/expanded to make it a complete bowl . It would look better than Camp nou/Allianz arena once this is done .

The Allianz takes some beating. The design is distinctive and a real statement piece.

Agree with you there, its just where it is that lets it down. Outside the city in the middle of nowhere.

Reckon it's perfectly placed imo...right next to the motorway, within 20km of the airport and loads of land around if they wanted to do a CFA...when you look at the area around our ground before and after then they have even more real estate to play with and if you think that we have a good relationship with the City Council, just imagine the relationship they have with theirs...

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Given our stadium was never really a huge statement piece, and it's already undergone a number of revisions, I think it's superb (barring it needs a bit more 'gloss' on the outside).

It's still well ahead of 99% of stadiums.

Arsenal had the luxury (and expense) of designing their stadium from themselves, we didn't have that. Still, can you imagine if we'd stayed at Maine Road? Arguably, moving to the new stadium was one of City's most pivotal (and best) decisions in its lifetime (in my opinion).

I agree. When we complete both ends The Etihad will essentially be on a par with The Emirates. The total cost of building The Etihad will still be
much less even factoring in the conversion costs from an athletics stadium to a football stadium. If we hadn't moved we would never have seen the takeover and would probably be languishing in the Championship or the lower part of the Premier League right now.

I find it interesting comparing and contrasting the legacy of our failed Olympic bids and hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2002 which led
to real regeneration in the city as a whole and most especially the football club with the disaster that was the Sheffield World Student
Games in 1991. Their legacy was a mountain of debt and most of the facilities including the main stadium have now been demolished.
