UK Athletics need to stop seeing their arse when it come to stadia. There will never be the demand for such a ground aside from once in a blue moon large events.

Remember that stupid twat Paula Radcliffe(her head nodded from side to side when she ran, also shat her pants in one race) kicking off when City were converting Eastlands, wanted it as an athletics arena. The stadium next door is too big ffs.

It was a poor follow on from Beijing's birds nest stadium.
But the Olympics justified massive infrastructure spend in London, so they didn't really care what the stadium looked like or what the end result was.

Saying that the Bird's Nest is plonked outside of central Beijing and no thought was given to the afterlife of that.

In contrast, Manchester can certainly hold its head high when it came to the forward planning of event designed stadia.

Countries like China have the advantage that the politicians don't have to answer to the public.

Not so in the UK, which makes it all the more amazing what they get away with. Truth is the only sport that can fill a stadium of 50 or 60 thousand regularly is football. Athletics - no chance. The Manchester solution was well-thought out. People quibble over it (Rags mostly) but the alternative would be not to host major games at all, ever.

Walked around the stadium yesterday, the maintenance staff of the site should be ashamed. It is so scruffy. the posters on the stadium are peeling off above the memorial garden. The attempt at painting the area blue around City Square looks horrendous. The who area looks and feel dirty. And the outside of the stadium is dire considering it is less than 20 years old.

My work mate was in Manchester for some bmx event at the velodrome, he walked around the stadium and said the stadium was nice but the whole area was scruffy.

It's not just the maintenance - it's the crap lying around - old bits of crash barrier , old signs etc. The spirals have a range of different coverings - which just look a mess. The place is a bit of an eyesore - someone needs to take control and tidy the place up. The city circle has been vandalised already - there's a surprise.

It's such a contrast to the academy. It's so bad and neglected that I can only hope there is a reason. Inside looks great but outside looks like a 1960s concrete car park. Owners can't be happy with it surely?

I really hate how they haven't added a big new badge at the top of the south stand exterior. Just above the Etihad Stadium sign. It's crying out for it.

Surely someone at the club is managing this sort of thing?
