By the way, you're not allowed to take pics of the academy stadium. I was told that by a couple of security blokes on different sides of the stadium this morning. They were nice enough about it, but WTF is that about?

They were probably JRBs security people :-)

Nice stadium pics though.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

They can't stop you taking pics from outside.
Loads of firms try and stop you, even the police sometimes do, but they can't stop you, barring some very exceptional circumstances, and this isn't one.

One of them did actually say that to me when I pointed out that I was standing on the pavement outside the stadium (the far side from where the big kids play). He just said that he had to tell me in case his boss as watching, but that "we can't actually stop you taking them".

Well that's you just got somebody the sack

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

No you can't be stopped from taking pictures unless it's on private land or private property.

By rights City can stop people taking pictures in and around the stadium, and on the CFA. But if you're taking pictures outside that area, let's say the pavement on Alan Turin Way, nobody can stop you.

If I'm approached by security, be it at City or in town, I explain who I am, what I want to do, and why. It's not a problem. 9 times out of 10 that works. Sometimes it doesn't and I leave it at that. Overall most security guards and construction site staff/mangers are ok about people taking pictures as long as you explain yourself.

Took some pictures on Saturday. Will post them tonight.

Some pictures from Saturday.

The steel corner roof structure waiting to be lifted into place. Taken from inside the stadium(through the turnstile) and on the spiral.

The stadium, inside and outside. Picture quality isn't great.(bloody cloudy and grey Manchester weather)

One of the roof supports including cables is now finished. Note the additional terracing and seating, covered, in the East stand lower tier.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of height differential in those front 3 rows does there.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Is that where the 3 new rows in the South stand lower tier are really going to end? That looks pretty poor TBH. Hopefully it will be carried on to the corner of South stand and the Colin Bell stand.

I noticed for the first time on saturday that they've already done the same thing at the North Stand end as well. Even though that's a good way off yet.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

The 3D viewer has the concrete going to the corner but with no seats, so presume it was atleast considered or is yet to be finished off.

Just posted on SSC by.....

Strange that there isn't as place for this project/proposal at Sports City/the Etihad Campus. Perhaps there isn't any room for it?

L@tics;

Ice Hockey outfit Manchester Phoenix have announced plans for a brand-new 3,000-seater arena, with Olympic-sized ice pad, in the city centre.

stream_img.jpg

Directors at the EPL club have produced detailed proposals for the venue, which they say will boast "state-of-the-art energy recovery systems".

If plans are approved, the proposed arena will signal the return of senior ice hockey to the centre of Manchester for the first time in over a decade.
“These plans are incredibly exciting and I can’t wait to bring senior ice hockey back to Manchester city centre. We owe it to the club’s supporters to do this and they know what it takes to make it happen.

“Along with over 100 volunteers, we made The Ice Dome a reality. I am confident it can happen again, wherever we go.

“The Manchester Phoenix faithful are the lifeblood of this club and they deserve a great venue.

“That is why I instructed architects to create plans for an arena with an Olympic-sized ice pad and 3,000 seats.”

– NEIL MORRIS, OWNER OF MANCHESTER PHOENIX

The club says a number of city centre sites have been identified for the new arena, which will eventually make way for a permanent structure.

An application for planning permission is being prepared, the club added, and will be submitted to the city council.http://www.itv.com/news/granada/2015-04 ... r-phoenix/

Don't you lose the first three rows on champions league nights to advertising ? Do those seats come with a periscope?

Where will the stewards stand/sit/crouch?

Having a front seat, with a steward, LED advertising boards, a camera man, and a grass slope up towards the pitch in front of you does not make for a good view.

That's why I'm saying are these being put in place for champions league nights, I can't imagine anyone sitting in those seats at any game. Losing three rows at £50 a seat must cost the club a bit of money.

Building a few extra bullshit seats at the front doesn't cost much, theyre the rows we lose on champions league nights, the club don't lose any money and no one has to move seat.

Or I could be completely off the mark.
