Reminder how it would look as an expanded two tiered stand.

Id love it if they called it the 93:20 Stand and had a big '93:20' written into the tier with white seats.

Personally have a feeling it will just be a copy of the South Stand though. Mostly because the stand has to be developed under the constraints of the original cable net and the rake of the current 2nd tier might not line up with the old supports at the back.

The old net comes in at the new South Stand right at the very top between the seating and roof. So the tier size and rake had to be aligned up perfectly to allow that to happen.

Could they not build the 2nd tier so that it comes out a bit more at the front over the top of the first tier, in order to fit it inside the roof at the correct angle ?

Wouldn't you loose capacity doing it like that as level 3 wouldn't over hang level 2 or would the rake of the seats take up the short fall and could you keep the north stand open as the current level 2 would be the front of the new stand or would have to come out to get the rake right for the new seats ?@worsleyweb

Here's what I mean when I say any new development has to be built around the old cable net.

It would literally have been impossible to have built the new South Stand any bigger. It's at the exact height the old South Stand roof allows and these supports cannot be removed because the old cable net forms a loop which supports the roof on the other three sides.

The pics show where it comes in at the back and into the inside of the stadium where it would have supported the old roof.

If they go for one big 2nd tier they will have to build it around this problem.

It's possible but like has been said, it might not be able to hold as many seats as the South Stand third tier, unless they reduced the leg room between rows.

Don't think they would touch the current part of the 2nd tier either. They would just build from the back and connect them when the old roof came off in the final summer.

,
Don't think they could match both the second and third tiers looking at this as the rake is completely different also if the idea is to marry the east and west stand ends to the south and north stand in the final 76k phase they can't alter the rake of the third tier else it won't join.

They can't do that anyway because the rake of the 3rd tier sides is completely different to the new South third tier.

please let that happen ! it looks amazing and would give our stands more character.

Has anybody heard if the rumour that Liverpool are struggling to sell all the tickets for their extended new stand is true, apparently fans forums furious at the pricing and asking fans to make a stand (pardon the pun) and not buy tickets. Seems that a lot of bad feelings towards the American owners remains I though that only applied to,the previous. Yank owners.

They back tracked on the pricing after the fans walked out of a game last season.

They will sell out. The fans are angry that it's mostly targeted at corporates or higher end seats.
It will be interesting to see what Liverpool's genuine limit is, but we shouldn't kid ourselves they aren't well supported, they absolutely are. They should have done it years ago.

dont know what the new capacity is but if they carry on as they are not finishing top 4 they will be lucky to pull over 60k ''i think'' top 4 i could see them doing well for gates

they've got the balance wrong imo to much emphasis on corporates. hopefully when the north stand is extended we have cheaper tickets again like the south stand. with reasonable pricing we could sell out 60,000 no problem.

Clanfield will be 54 thou capacity with the first meccano extension finished
They can then get it up to about 58,000 if they rebuild the Anfield Road stand

St peters Sq tram line re-opened. Or due to re-open. Should improve service to Etihad.
You would think so, however, for some reason the plug has been pulled on a direct service from Altrincham to the Etihad. They ran it last season and it was really convenient. If im honest I don't think I'd have bothered with a £70 "Fastrack" ticket if I'd been informed this would be the case, any time made up being at the front of the queue is now lost having to get off at Piccadilly and waiting for the Timperley connection.

Does anybody know when the expansion is happening?

I was watching the City vs West Ham game and the commentators were talking that the capacity was to be further expanded at the end of this season. It just spiked my interest as I hadn't heard anything concrete and these two were talking about it, at great length, as if it was set in stone.
