We struggle to sell out European games put it that way.

I think it's just a general effect of having a a large hard core support but not many 'occasionals' to make up the numbers when regulars can't go. We always had very high league crowds, and poor Cup crowds.

Only way to solve it is to get a bigger ground and set aside some part of it for cheap tickets so that locals can go and we can get a higher number of local fans.

For the first leg, at home, Real Madrid didn't take all their allocation which kept the attendance lower than 54000 (IIRC).

Pretty sure we sold all our tickets for the second leg in Madrid.

Would this be part of the North Stand expansion, or additional to it?

Can you say if you have heard any more about that ground extension? Last I heard was a report in the Sun that plans are being put together but sounded like a rip-off of stuff that you and a couple of others had put on here. Is it still in the planning stage, or has it been signed off and approved? No problem if you have to keep quiet for the moment.

You are spot on. Real madrid didn't sell all their tickets.

utd fans are going to love it tonight. Let's hope we win and make sure we sell out the Celtic game to show it's a one-off.

I agree, but we can't go much cheaper than the current bundle and prices. I think we just have to be patient and the c/l crowds will grow. I actually think the Celtic and Barca games will be close to sell outs as will any further rounds. But group games will always be dependent on who the opposition are.
 
Hard for me to envisage a collar site being worked on pre the east stand being extended/made-over...or perhaps the stand aint getting done...or even the collar site not encroaching land opposite the east stand...whatever is placed there i hope it's not battleship-shitty day colour
 
It would be good to hear about hotels, housing, retail/bars/resteraunts etc. There is nothing at the moment around the stadium its a bit baron.

Top euro team on a Wednesday will struggle to sell out
A non league team in the fa cup on a Saturday would sell out
 
As an out of towner, I hope the new news is about hotel and leisure facilities. Hopefully, similar to Chelsea's set up - I had a beer (or three) and a pizza waiting for the crowds to disperse at their hotel complex. It is a bit frustrating for Worsley to dangle a carrot, but I can wait as the man who made time made an awful lot of it ;-)
 
How is the planning for the campus working ? It seems that they have the plans in place but are waiting for the partners. But the partners will have different needs this will surely affect the plans ?
