Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

You have to factor we lost quite a few seats since the original planning consents, mainly due to the double height advertising boards.

That's where the shortfall and ambiguity is now, City aren't sure what the final numbers will be.

Perhaps some are also fixated on the wording of a home end?

In the three-tier proposal, safe standing would be on bottom tier, middle corporate and the third would all be Blues.

When they talk about an exclusive end for City supporters, we may need to accept that simply means no away supporters, unlike the South Stand.

It should be about accomodating more fans, especially younger ones, with attractive pricing structures, rather than catering for bragging rights and older City fans who just want to move stand for a sing song?

At £100m plus build, the club want to be making that return quickly.

The hotel could be the biggest earner in the immediacy, certainly if we run it with our exclusive hotel partner.
We have an ageing fan base, that needs addressing and quickly.

Lot's of kids are now latching onto us because we are winning titles but we now need to get them into the stadium on a regular basis. That means cheap and easy to obtain tickets, do that and we will fill the new capacity easily for a majority of games.

Let the prawn sandwich and cheese board brigade pick up the tab ;)

Emirates Palace? Bloody hell I can't see them do rooms at £50 per night. I hope they cater for those season ticket holders that travel bloody long distances to attend matches. A season ticket holder discounted rate would be a nice gesture.

Given the scope of the project, the club would do well to stick to around £100m. I think they'd do well to spend under £200m. Apparently the club do want an atmospheric two tiered stand without corporate seats, so the money will have to come from other places.

Found the full planning application. Feel free to scroll through it. Tons of info. Link below.

The current Etihad capacity is 53,400.(from the OS) Adding 6,250 seats approved in the original South stand and North stand planning application would take the Etihad stadium capacity to 59,650 seats. 350 seats short of a 60,000 capacity.

The club is ambiguous in it’s wording. WHICH COULD, not, WHICH WILL.

The feasibility studies consider several connected elements, central to which is an expanded North Stand, which could increase capacity of the Etihad Stadium to over 60,000.

If the club sticks with the original South and North stand expansion plans, the capacity of the Etihad will not be over 60,000. (I stand corrected on that)

Another interesting line. Concepts. More than one?

Fans and the local community will be invited to share their priorities and feedback on concepts in early 2023.

From the planning applocation.

Alterations to the Etihad Stadium, including increasing the overall height of the South and North stands and associated elevational alterations, to allow an increase each stand capacity by up to 6,250 seats respectively and up to 2,000 additional pitch side seats creating a total match day capacity of up to 62,170 seats (from 47,670), expansions of concourse facilities, alteration to public realm including changes to car parking layout, landscaping and boundary treatments and associated infrastructure

If only that picture was taken from the otherside we'd already know 1, 2 or 3 tiers. ;)

If we do end up with 3 tiers & the away fans staying in the SS it'll be interesting how many of our fans who like to see the whites of the away fans eyes will actually move.

We could very easily end up with 3 'sets' of singing fans rather than the 2 we have now....be careful what you wish for City.
