Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The worst part about driving away from the Etihad, is the walking wankers who believe the roads are strictly for their use. This then causes major problems for motorists and hence the gridlock.
Why can`t these selfish twats who make their way into town, just use the footpaths as they are meant for.

Do you drive your mobility scooter on the road or the pavement?

Oddly, Maine Road was better set up for public transport. You just had to walk to Princess Road or Wilmslow Road (neither a route march) and there was a bus every two seconds into town. That's without taking into account the regular specials and the normal services up Lloyd Street.

Albeit, things did go downhill a bit after Thatcher's masterly policy of bus deregulation. But Wilmslow Road was always a sure thing, even then.

The Etihad is chaos by comparison and there is a definite incentive to beat the chaos by leaving at least slightly early.

Part of the solution is for us to adapt our habits. I'm use to walking back to the station after the game, which presents little challenge. There definitely needs to be improvements in the public transport to the stadium, but this will be being discussed at the highest levels. The club need to invest into the pedestrian canal route back into the city, making it safer and light enough to walk during the wet and dark skies that hang over us during the winter months. The club must look at things that will want to make more fans hang around after the game. There will always those who want to leave early, but this needs to flow and one way around this is adapting facilities. Perhaps the arena and a covered fans section may help with this. Leaving Wembley after the game is a nightmare, so I have got used to stopping off at the pubs / eateries to socialise with other blues and fans attending the game. City must see this as an opportunity. The hotels are required for fans travelling further afield. It would be good to have bars and restaurant to draw the fans into the city. Exciting times when you think about it as many fans of other clubs can only dream of such things happening.

Bullshit. Since when do early leavers need an excuse.

I remember my first visit to Old Trafford (circa 1963) when people started to move around 25 minutes before the end to ‘beat the traffic’.

Fantasy Football League in the 1990s did a sketch where half the audience would start to shuffle off half way through. Imagine leaving a whodunnit just before the murderer was identified or leaving a courtroom drama before the verdict was delivered?

Vast numbers of City fans have hoofed it well before the end of the Gillingham playoff final and the QPR match. Don’t blame it on the public transport system.
