Thanks for all the helicopter comments. LoL! :-)

Won't be going up until the Summer. Want to try and guarantee good weather, which is never easy to do in Manchester, even in the Summer.

It does state in the booklet that pictures and videos can be taken from the Helicopter.

You can enjoy taking to the skies with a 15 mile Helicopter Pleasure Flight. There are 42 locations across the UK where you can take this experience and admire the landscape below you as you soar 1000ft in the air.

Take some duck tape and strap you and your camera to the feet of the helicopter - your legions of fans don’t want glass obscured photos taken from a cosy seat! - you need to step up and deliver !!!

If it doesn't get above 1,000ft you should be fine in case of a crash, they're pretty resilient modern helicopters.

There’s no way we could generate as much as Spuds from an improved Etihad. The retractable pitch is a deffo game-changer and is why Real Madrid have incorporated one into the new Bernabéu. To make the Etihad a stand-out stadium then a 70000 capacity, retractable roof (we’re up north!) and retractable pitch would be awesome additions.Would piss all over the Swamp and Anfield and be the best stadium outside London.
Given they had to dig down when converting the stadium to fit in the bottom tier, the pitch is below ground level, so forget about retractable pitches at least.

Forgive me, I’m no architect, but why couldn’t they dig down deeper? They dug down to a really deep level for the Madrid retractable pitch.
I didn't know that Madrid's pitch goes down TBH, but the mine workings would probably negate that for us.

I always thought retractable pitches go outside of the stadium to make full use of the sun.

There are a couple of clubs that have pitches that slide outside the stadium for better sunlight.

But the Madrid one stacks in levels below. This would never be possible at the Etihad due to level of the pitch already.

Not quite sure why Madrid bothered with a retractable roof. The Amsterdam stadium and Cardiff stadium have them but they both have a virtually no events in them during the winter ( which require an indoor setting ) other than football. So what purpose does the roof serve ? It certainly doesn’t make a big revenue difference.
