That is (apparently) a design put forward for the Olympic 2000 bid. They used part of the design for the 2002 Commonwealth games.

Yes but only the concept of the roof and spirals The City of Manchester stadium was designed as a football stadium from the outset with a clever use of the geophysical nature of the area in that the games track was at ground lever with the football pitch seven meters lower this also meant a temporary north stand

Whilst Manchester City Council wait for the go ahead from the Government to dismantle the gasometers at the back of the Etihad Campus, over in Milan the proposal is to bring two gasometers back to life.

Tens of thousands of square metres of poorly exploited land will become green spaces surrounding the gasometers, symbolic local landmarks. The gasometers will be converted into an innovation hub, a home for laboratories (such as the St Microelectronics clean rooms), startups

Let’s hope Populous bring some greenery, trees and landscaping to the area at back of the North stand expansion including City Square, the hotel, etc.

I think they have to do much more on the landscaping side mate with the arena, stadium but also hotels and potential retail park? Can’t have thousands of people a week going to a grey dull shit hole area?

I’m sure it will be done in Milan.

Just like it has been at Mayfield.

See how it can simply brighten up an area? They also need to regularly maintain it though as well! Lol
