Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Well done @jrb for writing all this down, still say they need multi-storey cars that serve both venues, the easy the solution is to use the old gas holders sites , that way you not eating into any car parking spaces
We can build all the multi stories or car parks we want, simply though the roads and layout as they are can't cope with what we have more cars will only make it worse. It will need the will and the budget for a rethink of the roads and layout. Not sure either are available with the council.

With a bit of lateral thinking from transport planing could they temporarly turn Ashton New Road into 1 way road from the stadium to Ancoats after the game

Who exactly is paying the approx £100m to purchase these 200 electric buses?
At a guess I’d say tgfm could pay half at least and use them Mon to Friday to replace much of the older diesel stock.
then prob 25 percent each from mcfc and from silverlake for the use in the evening and weekend for their events. Something like that, and I think it would be more like £150m+. Don’t forget as far as city and the arena are concerned it only needs to break even at say £2 a trip.

What this is all about is getting punters in and out of the campus with the least fuss possible. Like vegas they don’t care if they need cheaper flights in they want you their so you have a good time and spend cash.

Cant see tfgm putting anything like that in and I just cant see City spending that money, when it wont improve the bottom line as it isnt going to increase attendances.

That’s exactly why they need to spend some, if people have a bad experience with getting to events it puts them off going. Many in here have said the same. Our owners have spent well over a billion, silverlake well over £150. More to come on north stand and hotel etc. They aren’t going to hesitate spending £30-40m each if it keeps the project on its target of success and making money. And ultimately the fleet of buses will pay for itself, it’s just an initial investment.

as it’s stands if events clash on the campus it will be carnage and thousands will stop going. Most car parks 10 mins walk from the ground are currently charging £10, with in 3 years tops that will be £15 Plus. Even more reason to pay to use a good bus service.

There is no evidence to support this though, we sell out every single game. There will be very few clashes of Arena and Etihad events and when they do the times will not be the same ie main acts at the arena playing 9-11ish.

The transport is poor but people still go week in week out with demand only getting higher.

If this was the plan it would be all over the Arena info, the Stadium expansion consultations and the extended parking zone consultation, its not because it isnt feasible.

Well we’ll disagree mate and we’ll see. Events will clash that is a certainty At the stated 150 events per year booked months in advance.
where are you going to park when that happens with the current transport and less parking offerings? at least 3-4000 extra cars will be heading to the new arena. Most car parks round the ground are full an hour before the game at present. 7000 extra city fans post extension and 24,000 arena goers will overwhelm car parks 90 minutes before an 8pm ok. And they will be charged £15 minimum for the privilege. Most people who attend night matches in particular are unable to get there for 6.30pm or earlier.
