Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I see it is £70 for James GA Standing but some of the worst seats are cheaper.

Take That no standing but worst seats start at £70+ most seats if not on 2nd tier are £132 upwards, and the same £48 and £65 for Keane.

Clapton £115 for the back of Tier 1, and mainly £82 and £93 for Simply Red.

Seems similar prices at other arenas for the ones with tickets left, lot of availability of £75 tickets at Leeds for Keane, I may be out of date but would have expected £30 at the Academy One for a band of this nature.

When you’re inside the bowl of our stadium, it’s lovely. The concourses have really come on over the years n’all.

But for what is now the world’s leading sporting club, the outside of the stadium and surrounding grounds of our stadium are bloody ugly.

There are a few shots later on in that video where he’s at the other end of the ground to the construction end, and it looks as done-in and scruffy as the end that’s just had a load of demolition done to it.

And what a waste of space that car park out the back of the East Stand is (as well as where the old Mercedes garage is over the other side).

Considering what we all have been speculating for what would be built around our stadium for the last 15 years since the takeover (that original thread was the reason I started reading bluemoon-mcfc), I imagined things would have moved a lot faster, on a grander scale and much more high class than they have with regards to the surrounding grounds.

Looking forward to 2025 when the arena and the North Stand have all been completed. It will feel like it’s all starting to get moving around the outside of the stadium then. I wonder what the next 15 years will hold for the area around the stadium after that?

Thought the Merc Showroom would have made a good temporary fanzone for a couple of years!

It's weird walking through what was City Square this season. Matchday Income must be down.
It would have been an ideal spot to have a proper permanent fan area there. You could fit a street of bars and pubs and an outside fanzone on that site it’s that big.

It wasn’t purchased though I don’t think… missed a trick there.

It sounds ungrateful but I have to agree with you. I’m hoping the current works change all that. Sometimes it’s the finishing touches that make a big difference. The outside walkways surrounding the stadium refreshed and loads of trees would make a big difference. The CFA looks nicer than the area surrounding the stadium itself.

Inside the stadium is a great standard.

The arena is the key. Between football and concerts the area’s likely going to have 150+ events per year now, instead of the 30 ish with just the football and the odd stadium concert. This will make the hotel sustainable and i expect the rest will follow to try and take it to a 365 day a year destination.

Does feel its been a slog to get here (Casino fiasco didnt help), but that was 15 years ago. How time flies when you've been having fun!!

Sort of agree with you.

With a new 3000 capacity indoor fan zone, as well as the Collar site, and other empty parcels of land around the Etihad Campus, City didn't need to buy that garage and the land it sits on. They probably took a long and hard look at it to see what it could have offered the club.

Bar the North stand expansion which I'm mostly in favour of, bar 1 or 2 issues externally that I've raised, the Collar site is for me the most important part of the Etihad Campus. Get it right, whatever the proposals are for the site now, and it could be a real game changer for the club and for East Manchester, bringing 100s of millions of pounds in investment, and 1000's of new jobs.

I just hope whatever the proposals are for the Collar site aren't disappointing and underwhelming, especially when you think back to the proposed size and scale of the Super Casino, and the other massing proposals for the Collar site.

Hopefully the log flume connecting the Etihad to the city centre is still one of the proposals being looked at. ;-)

Makes me smile everytime picturing that flume.

Both drawings shows what is planned for the site , I am guessing that number 2 in a multi-strorey car park the same as what is getting built in Poland Street in Ancoats

Not a got a clue what 3 and 4 are , there are also parcels of land where the gas containors are and at other side of the Telsa garage that could be devloped.

I agree with the point raised above that something could have been done with the Telsa garage
