Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

A good number of away fans in cbl3 last night in a block. Odd given their top tier was half empty.

Yes, lots in 105 too and in the family stand.

All very friendly though, so no problem, but City could have easily (and more sensibly) sold them tickets in their own section.

Doing the wavy camera phone lights thing - "Look what a big club we are with fans in your end...." like Celtic, its fucking dog shit and I hope nobody on here indulges in that load of bollocks!

If we expand and have the ability to give a few thousand tickets away to youth groups, charities and schools for each game - then that’ll be a real positive. Do our bit for the community and grow our fan base amongst the youth in the local area.

Depends who the tickets are for. There always seems to be large groups of kids from Scotland at games for some reason. Fair enough, but I’d rather local school kids got tickets instead

It’s this generation we need to entice back n’all.

Ticket prices went up far too sharply to the point where people just starting out with families or mortgages or even just starting out renting on their own were priced out like a hammer blow within a few years.

They went from about £450 to £750 in about four years in some parts of the ground. And while we have introduced some £299 tickets they were done after the largest price hikes. We need more of the cheap ones available.

Our fan base is full of grey and balding heads.

I sit in 201 and I can confirm that in that part of the ground it is predominantly occupied by grey & balding heads. I’m not particularly grey but do have a baldy spot. However we are the group which has supported the club through thick & thin many of us from the 50’s onwards. You must remember that we lost at least a generation of support when going through the wilderness years. Our current crowds exceed all during my lifetime but if we are to continue to grow we need to make it easy for the youngsters of today to attend & also to re-engage with those who dropped of the radar in the past. In terms of the team they are doing everything possible to bring people in. The club must also make it affordable both in terms of seasoncards & also for those buying on a match by match basis. Price is very important, the levels must be affordable but not in such a way that people opt out of attending when they don’t fancy it, ie just buying the tickets to be used in the big games only. The club need to be imaginative in promoting the sales. There have been a number of interesting suggestions on these pages.
In terms of atmosphere whilst I support the idea of standing in certain parts of the ground I don’t know if it will solve the atmosphere problem. The south stand is full of standing people yet seems very quiet, often oiutsung by away fans. Once again imaginative ideas should come into play.

Same experience for me. Weekend Premier League games, 100% seasoncard in my block. Always the same faces. Yes and mostly old.

On a CL night though it's totally different. Loads of foreign languages, kids and families. A lot of City fans don't like it. I do. I love to see people from different cultures wearing City' scarfs and shirts. The trouble is these people are more there to dip their feet in for an occasion rather to watch the club through thick and thin. Who cares as long as there's a priority booking in place to reward loyalty and that City get support. Far rather see the place full and people excited to see City

Spot on Marvin, in order to be at the top table we need an expanded fan base
