Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

They have tiled walls, they also have their own micro brewery and a lovely glass facade. Great. I don't really crave a tiled wall at a football stadium when I go to the loo, it's just not that important. Spurs have taken on a large amount of debt for this, so it remains to be seen what happens to them over the next few seasons. Still nowhere near winning a trophy.
Could Levy organise a piss-up it?

Agree with everything except the space on the concourse. It was really cramped in the 30 mins before kick off and at half time. Our bottom tier has much more space, but theirs was really disappointing in comparison to say Arsenal or Wembley..

The number of catering staff and therefore speed of service was excellent though.

Running out of beer at halftime in a stadium that cost £1bn and has its own brewery is frankly unacceptable though!
We've run out of chips once during a match and twice during concerts. Oh and we have never run out of beer because the service is so piss poor you'd have to start queueing for a half-time beer 25 mins before half-time to even get close to selling out.

We ran out of beer for the 2011 FA Cup win celebration mate. I won’t hold it against the Club 8 years later lol

From what's been said by those that know better than me when all 4 sides are done the cable net can be removed, don't think a 4th tier has been suggested it seemed to be bringing the sides up to the level of the 2 ends on the images that have been posted.

Still a big project to remove the existing roof and build a new one and what does that achieve? How would it generate additional income to justify the ROI?

Yes it is a big project but seems to be the plan over the next decade so those paying for it must think it’s justified. For now I’d be happy just to move on to the North stand.

I think someone on here - who’s in the know said the present roof is fucked - they may have used a more eloquent term! So it maybe that the roof needs to be replaced in any case. Expect the scoreboards to stop working next season a la the old Maine Road North Stand.

Think it was me. Yes it is fucked. There is plywood believe it or not in the sandwich layer of the roof build up. It is like a saturated mush.

Youve worded that ^ like we're planning to remove a full roof in one hit... ..

Presumably once the four sections are in place we'll achieve somewhere between 78 &82k with the noise created within being not so quick to escape

Some wood used in the roof is rotting needs replacing IIRC

My point was in answer to a poster who said they would replace the roof without the addition of an additional tier Obviously this wouldn’t increase the capacity
The roof is a monostucture in two parts the cladding element is secondary structural the cablenet system is primary The cablenet cannot be broken as long as any part of the roof is in place So if the west roof is replaced with a new one then it has to work around the current cablenet A new structure will need to be created to support the new roof, look at the south stand and the amount of steelwork. All very expensive without addressing some of the problems with a stadium built to a low cost without any thought of expansion Build a new icon stadium for the biggest and best club in the world not a make and mend job
