Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Lots of Universities have simulator equipment and lots of medical training is done by video link. Many Universities also have teaching facilities in different towns, as well. In addition, Lecture halls aren’t a great way to learn and retain learning.

The travel wouldn’t have been ideal but we are not talking about a match day. I’m guessing that wider issues about MMU’s funding has affected their involvement.

Yes universities do have facilities in different towns, but you are usually based right near those places and not expected to travel.especially with the cost.

As a student at MMU 3 years ago a lot of learning is done in lecture halls - that’s just how it is, especially with the amount of students to teach.

The travel still isn’t great, especially when everything is already near by. Bars, lecture halls, accomadtion....

Unfortunately MMU has no vision, and I am guessing no money.

Sports students should ideally be based at the centre of UK sport. End of.

I agree, especially if they are looking for jobs at the end of their studies. Ive just seen the NHS is investing £250 mil in artificial intelligence. That is the direction clinical and scientific training is going but MMU think it’s all about filling lecture halls.

Me lads at Sale sharks Rugby camp this week at Myerscough collage near Fleetwood.
Great sports facilities with golf , rugby , football , general sports, equestrian, studies and courses on offer. But god it’s in the middle of nowhere. Long way for Sharks academy to be and guessing a good hour from Preston and Blackpool and a couple of buses I’d guess.
IWould be good to have something dedicated to sports on the Sports city site, but needs a lot of space.

15 minutes on the a6 out of Preston pal, not that bad in a car really as you just get off the m6 at jct 32 and head north till you get to a pub called Old Nels. That’s a great pub by the way if the weather is good. My son plays football up there quite a lot and it’s a great facility. It’s effectively an agriculture college and most students studying there are either locals who travel or live onsite. You won’t have students lodging in Preston and then traveling to lectures each day.

Found this image by Amazon advertising a jigsaw puzzle it shows the north stand with a deeper roof line to the South creating more noise, make it all safe standing like wolves and 2 tiers and we have cracked it.

For Pep specifically yes, but as I said this deal is about so much more than football. A medical centre of excellence will not only benefit city in terms of player rehab, transfer medicals etc, it will also bring in cash from other sporting institutions seeking those services.

There's nothing to say the Barcelona surgeon couldn't be brought in to lecture & share his expertise & experience. It all adds to the aura of a medical centre of excellence.

I see the vision, it's just a pity MMU couldn't.
Not sure a clinical medical facility would provide the financial benefits the club would want. Other clubs aren’t going to send their ACL injuries to a City affiliated surgeon.
Also clubs will have their chosen local orthopaedic surgeons specially for knees, hips and ankle injuries.

Lower league team players might if we have the best and charge less.

If the 3rd 1 was ever implemented at the Etihad, I might have to go back to pIssing on other people’s legs again, like we used to do in the old standing Kippax. Once you were in the middle of the crowd in the singing corner, there was no getting out, and you had to wait for half-time for a piss, or just do it on the spot. :-)

ahh the good old days
