Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Does anyone think that at some point we’ll see a few outlets on the site with like a Nando’s, Pizza Express, TGI’s or something?

Some people will want a sit down meal with the family before events at the arena. Probably be full on a match day as well.

100% there will have to be some venues like that. They'll want people to come and use the area before during and after events. It's not a sustainable or attractive venue if you have to have a meal/drinks in the centre before heading out to the arena.

I agree with the souvenir store and maybe the museum in the NS, but not the hotel. I think and hope the hotel will be stand one, which is better in my opinion. Having all 3 in the NS is too much. I'm no expert on hotel fit outs, but it takes an age to fit out every room to a high standard, especially if there are going to be hundreds of rooms. That is evident in the city centre when a new hotel is built. It would make the NS construction and fit out much longer, more complex, and much more expensive. A souvenir store and museum are more than double in the NS as they're both one big shell filled with nothing but partition walls and displays. Ideally I'd like to see a stand alone museum as a destination and football/tourist attraction like the National Football Museum is at Urbis.

Good points @jrb should they not becoming with drawings etc for hotels just now as they will lose money with people staying in hotels in the city centre

Who should though, if it isn't part of the stand and I doubt it is, then it would be a partner or somebody else building a hotel, not the club.

Literally whats gonna happen. The arena will be a 7 days a week venue. Therell be a few bars/restaurants fill up.

I said it a few pages back, we have no idea what that area will look like in tge coming years. Its gonna be huge (massive even ;))

You think it’s possible specialist food outlets will be hosted within the arena itself? That would be cool.

I'm not bothered if the hotel is part of the stand or not. Honest. Ideally, I would rather have a standalone hotel on part of the Collar site, tall enough to have a bar and restaurant at top of it that overlooks the Etihad below and the city centre (skyline) in the distance, similar to Cloud 23 at the Hilton Hotel and 21 Stories at No1 Spinningfields.

I accept people's snippets and info in good faith(thank you), and I'm not doubting them or their sources, but I find it hard to believe City are going to put the Hotel, Museum and Souvenir Store all in the expanded North Stand. For that to happen along with the seating expansion the North Stand would have to be massive.(arf!)

The rumours of an arcade/link between the stadium and the arena are completely logical. The arcade/link can be populated with bars and eateries that can be used for both matchdays and events at the arena. It's the most effective way that ensures these places can be viable.

Isn’t there supposed to be food outlets/bars built inside the venue ? a bit like the O2, with terracing overlooking the canal, Which most are speculating may be open for matches. I’m sure there’ll be enough for people to take in before a gig/show, I’m also sure I read it was gonna have a massive bar too ? And I’m certain the club are looking at using facilities at the Etihad to supplement those at the arena

It does, there will also be areas within the arena that can open until 2am after gigs.
