Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Yes. Moved to Stockport.(repeating what Tolmie has already posted)

I thought Motorpoint had taken over the showroom, but they haven't. They have taken over the old Mercedes showroom on Ashton Old Road.

It wouldn't surprise me if City have bought the site and added the it to the Etihad Campus. We'll find out in the future.
Any truth behind the athletics arena being flattened?

Merc garage can only be space being cleaned & flattened to create space for maybe hotel maybe for the new Arena?

One of the earlier plans showed a hotel on the athletics stadium linked to the expended North Stand. Tennis and Squash relocated as well. The running track was up Ten Acres but that's out o the window now as development of that site already happening

Is there any room around the training ground left?

Great place to put the athletics track/ stadium

I don't know. But I doubt it very much. It's owned by MCC. It's just had a new running track installed in 2020.

It's used by the community. And has staged national and local athletic events. TBH it's a great asset for Manchester. And it ties in with the Etihad Sports Campus. So I don't think it's going to be demolished or moved to another location any time soon.

I do not understand why people drink stuff they would send back in any other establishment.
To be fair the beer we sell in our stadium (now worse in paper cups) is staggeringly bad. It is much much worse than the Greenalls (hardly a world-beating pint) we used to get at Maine Road. The food offering (at least in my block 308) is just as bad. I have been to most UK away grounds with City (plus many other stadia) and would say our catering is one of the worst and it has got worse since we moved into the Etihad. It is lower-league level, unlike our magnificent team.

Don’t think the food is that bad, its not cheap, but don’t think the quality is too bad.
As for the beer only my personal thing but I’ve never seen the appeal of drinking in the ground, especially the half time one, queuing and drinking a pint and getting back to my seat in 15 minutes seems more hassle than its worth, then half of them seem to need a piss during the game. Thats just me though seems a popular exercise.

I agree there is no point drinking at half time but sometimes, especially night games, it would be nice to have a drink before the match if you arrive early. This is possible at many away grounds and some of them stay open after the match to let the crowds die down.
The food used to be good in City Square but very expensive. In my block it is usually cold (and still overpriced). Some European grounds seem years ahead of us (not the Camp Nou dump) with really good quality food and beer vendors everywhere inside and outside the grounds.

Our club doesn't give a shit about the fans.

Agree , I think once the arena is open as I understand it there will be eating and drinking options built into it alongside the canal, that will be open matchdays, though not sure what happens if there is a clash with arena events. They should give much better pre and post game options hopefully.
