Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

The Etihad was always designed as a football stadium, what is now the first tier was already constructed underneath the running track and the North Stand was temporarily built for the commonwealth games so it was a site entrance for finishing the football stadium ! West Ham have inherited a atheists stadium which is disguised to look like a football stadium with temporary stands and tiers added. It's not worked its a complete mess. Sold their souls by owners getting it for free in reality and now stuck with it. Unfortunately they will never be a top six side with their current owners or stadium @
Daniel Levi had the right idea. Demolish the whole thing and build a proper stadium on the site. It would probably have worked out cheaper than the current arrangements with scaffolding based stands that have to be dismantled whenever the athletes need it it.

I blame Seb Coe.

The void between upper and lower tiers at the 'away' end is ridiculous. Presumably for a stage for gigs etc? It's bad enough how far the fans are from the pitch on the halfway line, but look how separated the City fans (or any away fans) are...View attachment 52259
Jeesus they could play 5 a side down there, or do what they did at the real old Trafford (cricket) and stick a few hot tubs picnic tables & sofas in :)

Seb Coe had it designed for the upper tier to be removed and it be a Athletics Stadium a fitting size for future use. The person to blame at fitting a square peg into a round hole at the tax payers expense is the Mayor of London at the time Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

Can’t help but feel even a scaled down athletics stadium on that land would have been a huge loss maker and wouldn’t have got enough use for how much it cost to keep.

Surely a Stade de France set up would have been best. Mechanical retractable seating with no huge gaps between tiers when in football mode.

Away fans should be given the worst seats in a stadium

Look how good that single tier looks along the side of the pitch though!

I'm afraid I cannot believe that, the disgraceful lack of forethought for the use of the stadium after the games shows that the tub-thumping rhetoric about legacy and regeneration and on on on, was simply bullshit, and that resulted in a mothballed stadium, being haggled over for years whilst unsuitable for any use, and that's down to the GB OC and IOC and quite specifically Coe & Co with their empty fucking lies to land the games in the first place.

That affects home fans in that end too, and a giant screen bang in the centre of the opposite end, it's just shocking as a stadium.
