Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

People forget our stadium is 16 years old.

Compare it to The Swamp , Klanfield or 95% of this country’s stadiums and you will see we should continue to be proud of it.

Do not get this negativity one bit.
Tell that to the Sheikh & Khaldoon. They think it's not up to the standard they'd expect from a state-of-the-art stadium.

He was prepared to pay for one in 2008 plus no club is so self-sufficient that they could pay for a new stadium out of their own pocket. All would require financing of some sort and equity finance is better than debt, if the finance is available.
Interesting, I wonder where the planned stadium would of been located?.

People moaning about a new stadium, lets get everyone to turn up for the Champion league games first. We have a stadium that is fit for our current demand. To drive up the demand, we need to win Champions and Premier league titles, We already play the best football in Europe. Trophies are more important than beer pumps, Just!

New stadiums are always a game of leapfrog. You get a great stadium that is then superceded by what comes after it in pure terms. 'Twas ever thus. As it then gets older it becomes like the proverbial favourite shoe, lived in, comfortable, but perhaps a bit scuffed around the edges and not as impressive as your mates' brand new pair. What Spurs have is of no relevance at all really, when the Emirates opened everyone was blown away by what it offered, now, well it's rather old hat.

Thought Spurs were mad spending so much on a new stadium. It does look the business though. Have been to most PL grounds& never seen the level of facilities they seem to be offering. The 60K capacity seems low though. They recently got 80K at Wembley for the Arsenal game.

And also 29k despite challenging then for the title. It looks great, but I think the bowl itself looks quite similar to ours and we asfans are not paying £1,000 plus for it.

I hope City feel able to extend the current ground as we are at capacity in a period where we could have considerable growth.

They have also been getting some really low attendances for some of their home games at Wembley. 30 and 40k odd at times!

Juventus played in a 70000 stadium, they are the biggest club in Italy and are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

They built a new ground and decided they wanted a better, smaller, compact, atmospheric stadium than a giant bowl of nothingness.

Juventus stadium holds just 41507.

Spurs average attendance this season is less than ours anyway so he's talking shite.
