Presumably that includes weekday conferences etc as well as evening/weekend gigs100 events a year? Is the aim to take the gigs that the MEN has?

Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Italy and France for starters. People thing public transport is great but try getting around Paris when you are disabled or have a child in a pram. I have lived and worked in other countries. I have not just turned up for a few days in the capital city and made a judgement based on that. I would also add non Euro countries such as Australia, NZ and US.
Makes sense to me. The old GMEX and MEN Arena are not comparable to the likes of the O2 Arena. Plenty of events currently cannot be hosted in the north because there isn't a suitable venue.
I agree mostly. Edinburgh does have an award winning bus service it has to be said (and a mainly useless tram).Agree with all your points except the last sentence. Successive goverments of all political colours have totally neglected transport infrastructure outside London. Scotland, Wales, and most of South West England have been treated even worse than the North West. More than 60 million people live outside London and we have been taken for a ride!
There is nothing wrong with the Edinburgh Tram service other than that it consists of part of one line. Unless you want to travel from the City Centre to the West or to the Airport it is of little use.I agree mostly. My point entirely. It was supposed to go all the way down to Leith. If it had, at least i could have used it on my weekly Michelin starred restaurant jaunt. Sadly, I have to put up with a limo. ;-)There is nothing wrong with the Edinburgh Tram service other than that it consists of part of one line. But the section to Leith is currently about to start construction. My point entirely. It was supposed to go all the way down to Leith. If it had, at least i could have used it on my weekly Michelin starred restaurant jaunt. Sadly, I have to put up with a limo. ;-)

The bus service in Edinburgh certainly is a lot better than that in Manchester. It is virtually all provided by one Council-owned company rather than being carved up between corporate sharks like First and Stagecoach.
That's not the real reason you are a regular visitor to Leith is it?My point entirely. It was supposed to go all the way down to Leith. If it had, at least i could have used it on my weekly Michelin starred restaurant jaunt. Sadly, I have to put up with a limo. ;-)
Why, I thought the MEN was the biggest in Europe and voted the best indoor arena in the world a couple of years ago.Makes sense to me. I took it that he was travelling into town from Leith but perhaps you're right, I live across the water from there so I'll get the telescope out and see if I can spot a dodgy looking geezer in a city top down at the docks. That's not the real reason you are a regular visitor to Leith is it?

Shit, rumbled! That's not the real reason you are a regular visitor to Leith is it?
Dodgy?I took it that he was travelling into town from Leith but perhaps you're right, I live across the water from there so I'll get the telescope out and see if I can spot a dodgy looking geezer in a city top down at the docks.

I am totally neutral around Edinburgh’s football. How can one love another after following God’s own team all their lives? It was a wise decision by our city fathers to stop the tram line before it reached the Dark Side . The unwashed Hibs vermin dont deserve the perks us fragrant get.
Only been to the MEN once but it looked as big inside as the O2 and the published capacity numbers are almost identical IIRC.
The situation if you had two arena venues in operation in MCR would be a bit like Brum where the NEC (or whatever they are calling it today) is on the outskirts and the Birmingham Arena (formerly NIA, Barclaycard Arena etc) is in the city centre.
The problem is having enough artists who can fill arenas visit on a regular basis. Designing in real flexibility on sizing the venue seating so that it doesn't look empty for "smaller" gigs would be interesting.
Yes First have sold their local depots to Diamond who are also operating under the Go brandoff track but who are Dimond and Go North West now seen on buses instead pf first bus
sorry for going off track
