Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

IIRC, we funded parts of all those under a ciouple of different section 106 agreements. No, they weren't planning to get rid of any of them, just to site sports facilities on unbuilt plots where they now plan to put housing instead.

Thanks. That makes sense. So it's just the one gasometer site that's part of the Holt Town Masterplan.
where is the new Rugby League place going to be ?

The RFL has already moved its offices to the Campus, I believe. Where they're located, I'm not sure, but the official address is given on their website as Gate 13, Rowsley Street, Etihad Campus, Manchester, England, M11 3FF (see the section at the very foot of the front page). Part of the deal for them to move in was that they'd be able to use the Regional Athletics Arena to play representative games at junior levels. Whether they've so far done so, again I don't know.

Back in May 2022, just before they moved, they were reported to have obtained permission for a " new rugby league hub with a 900-seat stand". This was to be located off Grey Mare Lane and be centred on "the rugby pitch which is already located at the site opposite East Manchester Leisure Centre". The "new 900-seat spectator stand [was] to be built alongside changing rooms, six floodlights and classrooms", but as I'm abroad, I have no idea whether this plan has yet gone ahead.

The RFL are in the squash centre atm

I'm 99% sure City will want both of those plots, the access onto New Viaduct Street under the archway would be absolutely fantastic for getting more cars in and out of the blue car park much quicker.
I think so and hope so too and I also hope they make enquiries about re opening the railway line.
The only negative thar you can't see on that map is that it does fall away steeply down towards New Viaduct St so might not be the easiest to develop or extending the car park but is pretty flat by the gas holder.

How are they paying homage to the history ?
The circular building with what looks like an offset circular wall around it? Or at least that's how I interpreted it. It's not quite on the same spot as the previous gasometer as it happens.

An update on the RL facilities. The Grey Mare Lane Masterplan, issued by the Council in late 2023 and the subject of recent consultation, states as follows (see page 29 of the PDF linked to in this thread above), the emphasis being mine:

2.16 NEARBY NEW DEVELOPMENT

Current developments in planning around the site.

1. Etihad Stadium Expansion & City Square redevelopment - Expansion of Etihad Stadium to 60,000 capacity, 391-bed hotel, office space, a Roof Walk attraction, museum, City Store shop, and creation of new and improved public realm.

2. Co-Op Live Arena - 20,000 capacity entertainment arena

3. Our League Rugby Stadium - 900 seat ruby stadium. It is understood that the Rugby Stadium is not moving forwards, and that the Stadium has further plans for expansion to the junction of Ashton New Road. Sports use on this site is still being explored.

From last night , one of the entrances of co op having work done till the 16th September
