Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I mean beyond this.

The side stands will surely get done at some point but expanding the stand opposite the tunnel will surely be impossible to do if the collier is fully developed.

Maybe they could do the bottom cat park in the mean time
I have to ask, is it your spell checker that keeps changing 'collar site' to 'collier'?

Whatever hapened to us buying Asda?? It’s years ago now, that I took a couple of students who we were hosting on a tour and the guy said that they were moving as we had earmarked that space for a hotel??

Coatigan.

Council’s response

See below the MCFC stadium rental figures from 2003 to-date. Please note that prior to 2010 the rental figure was variable based on the audience figures at the MCFC games. From 2010 onwards a fixed rental amount of £2.8m per year was agreed which has then risen each year with RPI.

Has the 2nd hotel ever been mentioned or confirmed by the club? Was it mentioned in the North stand PA? I can't remember.

There have been a few mentions over the years mostly among other things, generally consistent on that corner of the area. This type of thing from a few years ago, and broader loose plans etc for the area.

How official and whether that is any 'confirmation' as such, not really sure, but does seem to be in their long term thinking and has for some time. Till there is a live application for it or the site itself, will probably always be a relatively loose plan.

Doesn't that suggest the club decided to move the hotel from from the Collar site to where it is now?

Having 2 separate hotels next to each, and filling over 600 hotel rooms per week is a very big ask and financial commitment for the club. Poor performaning hotels are notorious for losing money, just ask Gary Neville.

We also have to remember there are no football matches between May and August, roughly 4 months. Admittedly there will more concerts and events at the Coop Live Arena.

As I posted earlier, I'm more inclined to think City will stick with 1 hotel for now. Assess how the hotel is performing, stays, profit, etc, and if the hotel is doing very well, and the club thinks it can sustain another hotel close by, only then will the club build a 2nd hotel.

Has the Arena in Glasgow got 4 hotels ?

Presumably will aim to have concerts in the summer at the etihad again once the North stand is finished .

If I recall, the agreement was for no Etihad gigs for two years after the opening of the Co-Op Arena, so once the north stand extension, hotel and other things are complete, the stadium will become a live concert venue once again, and a very good one at that.

Yes, the Etihad concerts are starting again after the North stand is completed. The source of that information is very reliable.

There would only be 2027 available for a good while since 2028 is the euros.

Not sure how true the whole no Co-op competition for 2 years thing is but that would rule out 2026.
