Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I walked along Great Ancoats St on Wednesday on my way to City. It used to be a dead commuter road through derelict buildings and old warehouses. Now it's lined with restaurants. In April 2026, construction should start on the Digital Campus on the old central retail park. This site is expected to create 4,900 direct construction jobs over a four-year building period and eventually it will provide jobs for 7,000 people. I wonder what it will look like in 5 years time? Around it, are a number of housing developments in the planning stage.

In 2003, when City moved to the Etihad, there were about 1,000 people living there. Now there are 100,000 people in the city centre. By 2035 it has been estimated that that figure will grow to 235,000 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn41y9gmw22o).

Gave the canal side cafe a try lunchtime. At £9.30 for one pint, will be my only visit!
Daft price that, i've been in a few times for a coffee/snack and they some good food deals on, hot sandwich, crisps coffee, £6.50, and i did wonder about the price of a pint ? Surely they need to address that ?

Eventually the proposed Holt Town development will link the Etihad Campus closer to the City centre instead of the current derelict land, warehouses, empty houses, etc.

Hopefully some of Holt Townwill be built in my lifetime as I want to buy a house or an apartment there?(I'm 58 years old)

It’s definitely CoMs as it was for the 2002 CW games.

That's the Commonwealth Games configuration I think, from what I can see. The North Stand is at the top of the picture and it seems the temporary seating has been cleared out ready for the stand proper to be built.

Etihad Stadium, where the Three Lions would play their opening group game if they qualify directly, before switching to Wembley, is one of five other stadiums being used in England.

5 games in total apparently at the Etihad. Don't know who besides England.
