Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Love the thread followed it from the start- but bit of an novice. In the early days of the pictures of the Training facilities the images portrayed pretty basic low level structures, but the newer 3D images suggest that they will be larger and more imposing. Which will be nearer the truth in the end - is it possible to say?

maybe the "Stadium" news we've been waiting for will follow the appointment of a Chief Exec

It will be a while for the announcement on the stadium. I will update the thread when I now something concrete but my gut feeling is the end of the season. It's worth the wait

With all due respect, people have been saying "I expect a stadium announcement at the end of the season" for the last three seasons, and there's no more evidence to suggest it will happen now than there was then. People are letting their overanticipation and overexcitement over what is nothing more than an assumption that changes to the stadium will be made consume them and this debate - I really think we all need to stop predicting and adopt a "it happens when it happens" attitude. Every time people predict a stadium announcement and it doesn't happen, the disappointment generated gets closer and closer to upset and even anger - I really worry that we're creating such a big myth with such a great following that when the actual announcement comes out - which I personally predict won't happen for another 3-5 years minimum - then we'll have worked ourselves up to such a degree that if the announcement doesn't match expectations (and those expectations are steadily becoming ever more elaborate) that it will actually be unacceptable to many of us here.

Yeah, I know, I'm a worrier, but I already see the disappointment in this thread and I have seen the signs that it's turning into unrest...

tl;dr - Can we please stop bigging up the supposed stadium announcement, as I fear the term "setting ourselves up for a fall" is becoming ever more accurate.

My post isn't an assumption and it's a good job the club doesn't have your negative attitude!!

I have very deliberately kept away from timescales for some time now as they went out of the window some time back.

There are very specific reasons why there have been delays that we can all see in the developed partnership with NEM and MCC - the transfer of land from one party to another tells us that the plans will also have now changed from the original scope and scale.

Soem elements of what we have discussed have already landed and other will come to light that match some of the earlier 'speculation' we have entered into for what seems like forever on this thread.

And just as a side note, and one some will see the humour in ;-) http://www.bdp.com/ will be at MIPIM 2013 on the Manchester stand.

I think most blues are reasonable people and understand the reasons for the delay, but sold out signs going up for home games within days of tickets going on sale, indicate that that the stadium expansion needs to happen asap to keep up with demand and maximise income.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I bet the media are devastated at the thought of the 'screened training pitch' they will have to resort to just writing about 'training bust-ups' every week instead of adding pictures of something that happens at every teams training!

Thanks for posting a link to the pdf Ste.

Didn't they start letting him in to watch and post it on the site last year?

Great post. Appreciate the information, however limited it maybe at this stage. In Sheikh Mansour I trust.
