Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I can only see us building a new stadium and the current either being knocked down, or used for another purpose, rugby league, Union, or massive indoor arena?

Just to remind every one how I envisaged the ends being done...

Exec Boxes would be extended all the way around

As I see it, the key stumbling blocks are:

A) the roof - I've got the ends slopping the other way but with the inner 'ring' still as it is today but I have no solution for routing water down to those big spouts
B) access/egress for supporters - my view is that more spirals would be required (as in the original 2000 Olympics Stadium Concept)
C) corner air flow vanes - these would be covered up so another solution would be required

So whilst my drawings look feasible, since I mocked them up I'm no longer convinced it can work quite like this

So where is the CableNet?

Your roof system doesnt work as you have already point out in A)

I dont think the sightlines are any good, looks like the top rows will be restricted views

Out of interest how have you produced these drawings?

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

This has been posted before when we've discussed expansion. Remember?

I'm guessing it could look something like this with a redesigned roof structure at each end of the stadium.

The shape of the stadium and spirals are spot on.

Cable net is still there as the front of the roof is still actually the same level as is now, its the rainwater run off that doesn't work

But the sightlines actually will be absolutely fine from the very back of the new end third tiers

The drawings are nothing more than copies of the Arup Originals (available on the internet) with judicious cut/paste/retouch/recolour for the green (new) bits

It's the focal point of the Etihad Campus...it ain't going anywhere or being knocked down!

Can you give a capacity once all the expansions have finished.

Anyone else think a redeveloped much larger 2nd tier at both ends of the stadium could look something like this, with a redesigned roof?(at each end)

I'm sure executive boxes will be added between the tiers, just like the East Stand and Colin Bell stand.

Not fishing GXCity. ;-)

I thought of the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff when GXCity mentioned the 2nd tier's being extended to look like the kop. It could look amazing if you could get the 2nd tier at each end to join with the 3rd tier at the top like the picture below that somebody made on a different site, only without the huge scoreboard, and the seats being blue of course. (The picture was too large to post so I put the url instead).

There you go.

Good effort and you must have spent sometime on this

Sorry to be a pest but really interested in any ideas as I find it hard to understand how the stadium can be extended without a completely new roof, also any new roof cannot be totally supported by the existing structure.

If the CableNet is still at the same level, then is this not lower than the back row? I cant count on your sketches but how many additional rows and how many additional seats?

I have this mad idea that they will build a structure similar to the Ferrari world encompassing and extended stadium and the collar site If I could find enough info Id so a layout on CAD to see if its feasible.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

A question for GX...

Do the end stands have corporate boxes between the 1st tier and the new 2nd tier? Or anywhere?

Also you said like the Kop... Do you mean the Kop as it is, or as the proposed redesign?
