There´s something odd about the bridge..If the design is altered why doesn´t anyone mention it?
The first set of vision designs was all about this iconic bridge, now..silence?

I can understand if it became to complicated, to expensive or whatever but not the current silence

Do you think that it's gone silent because it's possible linked to the site where the casino was going to be. So it could be linked to whatever is going there.

It looks like some branch of the Manky Way.

-- Sat Sep 15, 2012 11:30 am --

That's got me thinking, you could get to the stadium on match days via boats on the Ashton Canal considering it starts on Ducie Street near Piccadilly station & gardens. Admittedly, it would need widening and couple of bridges would probably need knocking down for higher boats.

I believe the club with New East Manchester are looking at the Holt Town Ind Estate which is now completely out of place and an affront to the plans of encouraging more people to live in a new green east Manchester. The place is an absolute tip and new housing development has been proposed.

It's not unthinkable that a wharf could be created there next to Holt Town and the stadium. Visitors (and locals even) to the city could then arrive via Piccadilly and get either a tram or canal boat to the Campus vice versa. Indeed, I would say the person who suggested this is believable.

It would be a good use considering the transport problems our ground has post-match. I hate canals which are dead and not used.

The poster who mentioned the canal terminating into the complex was specifically chatting about the training complex.

God knows..But according to the ITK´s the collar site and the stadium itself is next on the list. Might be that they both need to be done in tandem I suppose.

I think it's also odd that total cost has been quoted as anywhere between £100 million and £200 million. That's a heck of a discrepancy.

Can't believe the 'abridged' bridge would be a cost issue...and I think you've nailed it with the hush, hush nature of it. I do remember now the bridge being hailed as the centrepiece, and now we're left with something a little under engineered.

I don't think the bridge will be done at the same time as the collar site but it will be designed with that and stadium expansion in mind so that it would not be difficult to attach the bridge to whatever will be built on the collar site

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Just watched the launch video with the interviews on it. Got to say that I'm so proud of MCFC as a club. I've always loved the club but when you see that its not lost its ethos over 130 odd years in promoting good in the local community then it brings it home to you why you love them so much.

And once the current owners move on, and once we're all long gone too, I'm sure the club will continue to operate in this way. In the meanwhile, let this little church club from West Gorton go on to dominate the world! :)

I quite regular see the shop window at Eastlands broken by vandals i'm guessing were gonna have a crack team of ex SAS security guards to keep the grounds safe as we all know the rags are usually armed with red paint and dutch courage.

No match for the fearsome men in black. Or Phil Jones.

.

That´s mainly a matter of counting the money already spent on the site or not..

Btw. For those who are asking about the bridge. Check http://www.cityfootballacademy.co.uk/academy-training-centre/bridge/ (It seems to be updated at least the picture does).

At the risk of sounding like a complete fool... The site looks so different to what it looked like a few weeks ago! I'm amazed they've got so much work done so fast. I have no doubt that the training ground will be complete on time and judging by the new pictures, it will look amazing.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Will there be a water feature as part of the design? By charlie dimmock?
