We park the car round the back of the new campus and some 2 months or so ago we saw massive pipes lay partially horizontal in the ground and found out that my company had had cranes on there laying them and apparently the whole campus is going to be self sufficient in water which includes the catching, using then recycling it for re use, I hope in the future I get to go on there with my crane as I never got a chance to work on the main stadium for the games...

You are correct mate, every bit of water off the site will be channelled into those pipes, a large proportion of it will be used to water the pitches through a sprinkler system while the remainder will be used for toilets etc.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

The Mercedes garage next to the ground is being given planning permission to extend at the back of the current facility. There were rumours that the land it sits on was to become part of the Etihad Campus. Not earth shattering i know but it does still suggest things are relatively fluid in terms of the enlarged area and what is being proposed for it. Anybody else shed anymore light?

Hmmm...interesting. I (amongst a fair few I guess) have been led to believe chunks of land are being purchased by the day and this Mercedes garage would be a minor brush aside in terms of it relocating (there are business links between Mercedes and Mansour, at least in terms of shares held apparently?). Whether it's Mercedes pusing up their worth of land or not...god knows?!

Land has and is being purchased by the club or companies associated with it and that is perfectly logical as once the developments are started the cost of the same land will sky rocket.

It is also perfectly logical to allow the expansion of a site that may not be bought/developed for several years as long as a price is agreed beforehand.

That means that Merc' will earn more for now and then relocate rather than the club having a bit of land that remains fallow for many years.

That said I dont know for definite that the Merc' garage will definitely go.
