Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Was looking through the revised plans for the MCFA on the MCC Planning Portal last night. No major changes of note to report. What i did come across, on the mini stadium outline drawings, was the FanZone2 area thats going to be placed outside the small stadium fronting onto Alan Turing Way. The steps to the new bridge are just outside as well. Given that this then crosses the road down to Commenwealth Way, to where the away support entrances are, would this be an area for the away fans to drink pre/post match or another area for the home fans. It looks like a similar set up to City Sq bar with the preformed roof covers. Anyone know? Perhaps its there as a substitute for the original City Square whilst the North Stand and surrounding area are developed?

Link? Or pics?

Why should we let away fans drink in our brand new state of the art facility.
(not having a go at you) Can you imagine a load of Rags in there spray painting the place. Manchester is a big City, let away fan's find their own watering holes.

Personally i can see this being yet another arm of city's pre-match hospitality which they currently host elsewhere as there aren't enough at the stadium on some occasions
i think it may be an upgrade from City Square, perhaps where fans can have a sit down meal and drink in comfort before/after the game for those who don't want to stand out in the cold, or can't drink and eat with their kids

Might aswell take their money for the club rather than let the boozers in town have it

It looks like an outside facility looking at the drawings as its external from the mini stadium fronting onto Alan Turing Way. But as you said there may well be internal areas of the Stadium that may be used for the corporate type of matchday experience.

Sorry i can't post a link, don't know how to. JRB maybe the man for that. There really is nothing exciting to look at as there are no renders etc.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Can't say I can remember seeing one before at the Etihad, but they had a Skycam there yesterday for the Magic Weekend...it probably has been used before, but is this new and can we look forward to it becoming a permanent fixture next season, or do they only use them for specific matches...Wembley for example for the Cup Finals and this weekend of course??

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Whatever Sheikh Mansour, City, MCC, and NEM build, it's going to look impressive from the air, as well as on the ground.

Use your imagination.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Obviously we all saw the article in the MEN regarding the expansion of the South Stand but has anything actually been officially announced by the club yet? I certainly missed it if they have.

Dunno, but Ferran mentioned it in the long interview he gave in the US
