Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I posted ages ago that the club were buying up more land and had looked at the small industrial estate north of the Merc' garage.

That came to nought as far as I can recall but of course we all speculated that the Merc garage itself had been bought and funnily enough that is the one bit on that image that is left outside the red line.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

So basically that is probably why we haven't heard what is going to go on the collar site because until all the land is acquired they won't know how much land they have to develop No?

Well, where´s GXCity? He might have heard something..Before I contact my bank about a new mortgage that is.

Would suit me to live there when I retire say 15 years from now.

I think they have likely known what they want to do for a while but its more about getting partners for the leisure side of things in place.

The hotel(s) would be easy enough to sort out as would any residential elements too if there is any.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Used to work in the 'Holt Town' area, it's a dump and could do with flattening - but then again so could most of East Manchester!!!

What the club need to buy up is the land on the other side of the canal, to the training complex. There's a couple of small chemical factories there that kick out a proper bad smell (vinegary) and can't imagine that'd be too good drifting over the complex while they're training - not to mention what an eyesore they are!

There has been a mention of it already and possibly some of the buildings on Wilson st .

I'm led to believe City are keen on Holt Town. It's a remnant of industrial east Manchester which will look completely out of place when it's bookended by the Etihad Campus & Islington.

Essentially it cheapens the area after all the positive work that will be done over the past 20 years come 2015. There have been murmurs that both of those gasholders will go for similar reasons.

Can't quite see it on this shot but in the bit marked N/O on the roof of an industrial building between Cambrian Street and Upper Helena Street can be seen a set of tyres spelling a special message for the Police Helicopter...

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

The work is taking place at an exceptional rate and it wont be long before it is finished and that one piece of the puzzle is finished! I wonder when any official images of the stadium expansion will be published. It is odd that we are still looking at a quick amateur impression rather than proper drawings. Perhaps as with everything (apart from sacking managers) the club is keeping this close to their chest and it will be released alongside a whole array of exciting plans and developments for the area. Wish they would hurry up though!!!

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Thanks 'unexpected item' - did your parents really call you that ? Great photo's and the rate of progress is phenomenal with the better weather still to come hopefully.
