The proposal

Over the past 12 months Manchester city Football Club (MCFC) have been looking at various proposals to provide a memorable and lasting landmark for both City fans and visitors to the stadium .

Through a number of feasibility studies the club has chosen both preferred scheme and location where it believes it can best deliver its required outcomes.

The proposal is to create a granite ring that circles the current club shop (City Centre) at the Etihad Campus. It is proposed that the granite ring will have
120mm waterjet holes cut into the top facing surface, in which to insert one of three different disks on offer.

Once complete the disks will spell out the words to Manchester City football Club's unofficial song "Blue Moon".

All of the works associated with this project are ground works and the club has undertaken measures to ensure the quality of the proposed finish is of a qualityexceeding the current.

The scheme will not change or impact the flow of traffic around the stadium (no obstacles will be created) and the topography of the site will remain
unchanged.

Independent tests have also been undertaken regarding slip resistance.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Think that looks great, imagine that from the sky blimp :-) Wonder how much the discs will cost......

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

i do not see the need for a new stadium IMO as we barely fill the Etihad just now.

it's been sold out for 16/16 league games so far this season

if you were a blue you'd know that

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

We'd sell out a 50,000 seater for every league game now. 55,000 might be a stretch but it'd be worth expanding to 55,000-60,000 just to accommodate the no doubt expanding fanbase in the coming years. 60,000 would put us in line with Arsenal's capacity and would already sell out for rags/Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool games probably.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

It's taken that fucking long to get the tram line up and running, only 10 years late, that I will probably be dead before anything ever gets built. So losing interest fast.

so from what I understand it's watershoots spelling the song, flying into the air?

It's impressive from up in the sky, but most fans won't really see it? just a watershoot flying past their heads... Sort of like what happens when they show lives games at the square and everyone is throwing beer everywhere.

I'd be most impressed by putting the square indoors :)
