I'm one of those "make it look good before considering the practicalities" kinda guys so I'd like both to be done at the same time if possible as long as no disruption to matches.

When is the expansion starting? This summer?

This is a great thread - plus thanks to JRB. Did I not read - maybe 12/14 months ago - that the 2015 Rugby World Cup
which I believe is in Autumn 2015 - will have ONE game at The Etihad and the capacity is supposed to be 60,000.?

This leads me to believe that both South and North stands will be complete and with the 2,000 extra lower seats around pitch level the capacity will be 62,200 (approx.)
Lot to do between March 2014 and Oct. 2015 methinks.
Yeah there will be one game to be played on 10/10/15, England vs TBA they are aiming for the south stand to be finished in the summer of 2015 taking it to 54,000... A second phase expanding the stadium to a total capacity of 62,170 was submitted for planning consent at the same time, and so could proceed concurrently; or otherwise could commence after the Rugby World Cup in September 2015.

I would imagine that MCFC have already told the IRB what the capacity will be for them to price the game and get tickets ready to sell... can't sell tickets for a tier that won't be built

The reality is that the expansion work has started, re routing existing services and ground sampling are the first phase.

City have put hoardings up at the back of the south stand which are clearly as far as the extension will go my guess is they are there to assess people flow out of the stadium for the planning application.

City have 3 weeks to decide whether to do one or both ends. This is the critical date for the steel order. The works started at the south start are to move the service diversion route.

I am led to believe the decision hasn't been made yet.

The FA Cup attendance might / should impact on the decision.

Don't know why so many fret about whether we will fill all the seats after expansion, extra seats means extra revenue when the seat is occupied, there's no cost to the club when a seat is empty. People should take a look at Spain's big two, barca have sold out once this season and are regularly 20k short of capacity. When they played getafe in copa del ray recently I think the crowd was 34k in a ground that holds 96k.

like how they are re-developing Manchester ... thumbs up from me lol

Where is that? It looks amazing...

San Diego, California. The stadium is the home of the Padres baseball team, until this stadium was built they used to share the San Diego Chargers football (american) stadium.
