Slightly off topic but I'm very impressed with Nice's new stadium design. Just goes to show what a bit of cladding can do. Cheapest seats for league matches only EUR7.50 too.

Compared to their old Stade du Ray which basically had the appearance of something temporary made from scaffolding, it's like it's from a different planet. The new stadium's about twice the size of the old one, but they rarely sold out the old one so they'll be rattling around in there! Think next year's family holiday may just be to the south of France again. If we go late enough I should be able to take in their first match.

I was in Nice last week driving up to La Gaude so got a great view of the stadium and it does look impressive. Don't be fooled by the artists impression of the surrounding area, reality is very different.

Yeah I realise that there's a bit of "interpretation" in there! On the whole though, lovely city.

One thought though, big gate and massive security makes the whole Spurs training ground inaccessible to the general public. If this is repeated at City, which I assume it will, we'll have a fantastic 100 million pound development next to the City stadium, much of which, nobody other than a privileged few can access.

In all fairness SB, the pre-academy boys (U6,7,8) regularly play games against north west Junior football teams at Platt lane with the boys and their parents getting access to that site. So it should be the same for the new place.

However, there will be this great 100 acre development next to the City stadium which will be cordoned off from the local residents and matchday City fans. So while this development is obviously better than the wasteland it's being built on, as a property owner in the area, it's not something that gets me terribly excited.

I suspect most blues will be happy with the knowledge that our players will have the best possible facilities and aren't being distracted by bullshit stories in the media.

I feel the commute may become an issue. If I was player x offered 100K to play for City but commute into the City centre traffic jams everyday or 100K to play for someone else with a gentle 10 minute country drive, it could be a major factor in my decision.

1st the new Etihad campus is 2 miles from the city center and has 4 major roads linking the ring road

2nd its to build and bring all levels of Manchester city football club together
youth EDS and first team players all training at 1 place


we will have the best and first training camp that will be 2nd to none the money that been put up to build the eithad campus will last for years and years

It's quite an important benefit though, wouldn't you agree. Especially in the era of FFP.
The publicity and interest the campus will generate will be hugely beneficial. Potential new sponsors, great publicity etc. The plusses far outweigh the negatives. As for players not signing because of the drive into town. That's a pretty poor argument. I suspect most are driven by a desire to play for the best teams and chances to win medals and not how long it takes them to get to work. Any player that would make a decision based on his morning commute wouldn't be the right sort of player we would want anyway.
I don't see the training grounds proximity to the city centre as any reason why we should allow unrestricted access to the public. What exactly is your point there ?

Will the Campus as a whole excite you? I guarantee it will and your house value will rocket.
