The 62,000 seat question
Manchester City are looking to extend the Etihad Stadium to become a 62,000-seater.

Who are they kidding? They don’t have the support to sell out that kind of capacity every week.

In my eyes only Manchester United, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham are big enough to attract that kind of gate on a regular basis. The City bosses should be taking smaller steps in expanding the ground.

Their main priority is making sure they remain contenders on the pitch in the Premier League and in Europe before they start making bold statements like this.

No one likes to see thousands of empty seats.
A non-entity speaking (a loose definition in his case) in a non-entity of a 'newspaper'. Nothing to see here, move on.

Who is Collymore kidding?

Everton?????? Spurs??? Both could fill a 62,000 capacity stadium on a regular basis. Of course they could Stan, you absolute.......(fill in as appropriate)

By the way Stan. Both are linked. Larger stadium, bigger revenues, better players, more success on the pitch. Doh!

Now f*** off back to the Black Country and concentrate on staying on the straight and narrow.

Physical violence in any form is never an excuse or acceptable.

Spoke about this expansion to a very influential member of Manchester City Councils regeneration team on Thursday after a meeting with them. I asked if they expected any issues with the planning permission and if they knew of any other potential plans for the area around the stadium. Their words were:: "the City owners have so many plans for this area and so much money that for the time being, they can have anything they want..."

I'd expect even bigger things for this area as soon as the stadium and training ground are done. Might even stick a few quid into a house around here in the next year or so...

Picture update coming tonight. Not training academy, just bridge, Mini Etihad, and South Stand.

Currently down at the Etihad.

Bridge, large lifting crane, and workers, currently onsite.

Due to strong winds, construction of the bridge hasn't started.

Got some close up pictures of cladding on the Mini Etihad, plus the bridge supports.

Mate, great photos as always.

Just fyi, UFC didn't start in Manchester, it was established over in the States 20 yrs ago, (hence the 1993 on the shirt). The Manchester is with regards to the UFC coming over here in 2013 - which I believe was there 3rd visit.

The blue shirt is nice and is the 20th anniversary ones they brought out.
