Eto'o bad news update

A very big point that seems to have been missed

Laporte announced yesterday (28th june) that Eto'o had recieved a 'stratospheric' offer from City and that it would be difficult for him to refuse it.

Then today (29th June), its announced by SSN that City have officially placed a £25 million bid.

Surely this cant be correct, I can't for one minute believe that City have only just placed a bid and that they were allowed by Barca to talk to the player and give him a firm salary offer, Barca must have accepted City's offer some time ago and then offer Eto'o his wages etc.

I open for someone to point this out differently, however i believe that this deal has already been concluded some time ago, bar the signiture and that City have now given permission to drip feed the media.

I am no ITK, just a little bit of deduction dear Watson.

What do you think????

I was under the impression that we had a bid accepted ages ago. That's why we offered him the wages, but now SSN say we just lodged a bid.

Odd.

He came on yesterday in the hope of winding people up and lucky for him Eto'o has put a bit of delay on things, with his demanding of the 13 million....He now think to himself "great lets do some more winding up"

It's far better if he stays banned.

well, the point is that City cannot speak to Eto'o without Barca's permission, but that could quite easily be given before a fee is agreed. as for the rest, yep, it feels like we're going through the motions publicly, I cant think city would have allowed a situation where the ins and outs of the deal are negotiated in public, they've made a lot of noise about walking away from deals when this happens, and city walking away is in no-ones interesst.

My guess is that a fee was agreed days ago, and SSN are just playing catch-up. Unless Barca allowed us to discuss terms with Eto'o before a fee was agreed, but that's not the order in which things are usually done.

You actually dont need to have agreed a fee with the club in order to obtain their permission to talk to the player. If Barcelona could have allowed us to talk to Eto'o then set upon agreeing a fee with us. This is a process used by a lot of clubs especially on deadline day when time is of the essence, if you are going to spend most of the day waiting for the fee to be agreed you will run out of time to talk wages.

If the clubs are pretty confident and comfortable that the fee will be agreed then they tend to allow clubs to talk to players before the fee is finalised.

Eto'o is boring me now.

I dont like him anyway. He's basically what Andy Cole was to the rags.

give a player enough chances and they will score. Barca must give him 5 to 6 great chances a game. If he scores one of them per game, his record will be amazing...

Just imagine Torres with the same chances in a Barca shirt.

there is no concrete bad news just wild speculation..

Calm the fuck down

Haha, just wait mate... keep your fingers crossed (or not in your case) and just wait and see...

That sound like a clutch at straws sort of statement, surely the fee negotiation is equal as drawn out as the wages and as important to all parties before pen is put to paper
