Eto'o bad news update

Agreed. However he made manager have a re think last year because of difficulties. For me if he comes to city fantastic if he doesn't we move on to the next target, it is not the end of the world FLBs.

Then what was the point of ruffling everyones feathers with this stupendous offer. Thought we had learned from the Kaka debicle.

The leak hasn't appeared at our end but from Barca, I think a lot of people were under impression maybe we had confidentiality clause but it is apparant we don't have. If we did we should have walked away the minute Joan Laporte opened his mouth with the stratospheric offer quote.

i believe the reason we are so quiet about the deal is because it is stil being negotiated and is nowhere near being done yet, i'm sure the principle of the move is agreed and he would be happy to come to us. I think all this today is Eto;s agent trying so squeeze every last posssible penny.

Let me be clear, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ETO AT CITY.

BUT,

i don't believe his heart would be in it, and i agree that i have heard he can be very disruptive in the dressing room. at 28 years old we may get 3-4 years maximum from him.

much as i like the idea of Eto at my club i have to admit i am worried about the reality of him being here.

i think this is going to end in tears, WALK AWAY NOW MOVE ON TO OTHER TARGETS AND LETS DO IT WITH SOME DIGNITY IN TACT.

Whilst I agree in my heart with your comments re dignity I really think this is more about getting the big name player that will finally launch the club rather than the number of years we will get out of him etc. Get Eto'o and we can start to get pretty much anyone - unless we absolutely have to walk away then lets pay him whatever as this isn't about football its about image.

Maybe we have.

Or maybe Eto has signed and it will all be released on Wednesday. ;)

Barca need the money for Villa.
Barca also want Eto out.

this makes our offer stratapheric.

if they wanted to keep him the offer would have kept quiet or described in some other term, STRATASPRERIC sounds like too good for us to decline and by the way Eto this is too good for you to turn down.

i still believe his so called agent is ry to take this piss, go back tonight and say here you go final offertake it or leave it, by all means think it over but any hint of a press conference and it's off

Maybe the fans should start learning a few lessons?

So what if we fail? At least we tried. Would you rather we had not bothered with Robinho?

Players like Barry came to City because they know that we are ambitious. Tevez is reportedly considering us and Chelsea. No lose situation for me. If you're wealthy, you've got to use the money as a shortcut.

Good luck Sammy boy if you're going to stay at Barca just to spite them. You'll be bench warming for the remainder of your time there you pillock!

Agreed. This bonus stuff makes no sense. Barca are obviously ready to sell. If he wants a new contract, making ridiulous bonus claims is not the way to get it.

This stuff makes me think we're better off without him.

At the end of the day if Eto'o is entitled to a loyality payment then good on his agent for sticking to it, in all fairness he has played a blinding hand...it is Barca's interest to reach a quick compromise with Eto'o

Stop jumping to conclusions. Doesn't anybody realise that if this deal were dead, City would have said so. The club are mindful of the sensibilities of the fans and they'd be keen to put us out of our misery. I'm not saying their WON'T be such an announcement but I am encouraged by its absence so far.

Yeah. GC announced pretty quickly that we ended our interest in Kaka.

I think everyone needs to calm down; we all don't know the facts.

Things look to be heading towards Eto'o staying at Barca according to SSN just hope the Tevez deal goes through now!

"Samuel Eto'o is demanding a "transfer bonus" of 15 million euros from Barcelona to sign for Manchester City, which could scupper any deal for the Cameroon striker, Spanish media said on Monday."

If this 10million bonus is the only problem then i think he will be a City player soon, cant see us walking away looking like cunts again for the sake of 10m when we are getting him cheap anyway at 25million, we where going to pay near 100m for Kaka ffs and this guy is on the same level as the worlds best striker, fuckin steal at 35million......sort it out cookie lad :-)

So what if we fail? At least we tried.

Because the more we fail with our bids, the more stupid we look, and the more shit the doubters have to throw at us. All we are doing is massaging big players egos. All this crap about how the story got out, confidenciality clauses, dont make me laugh.

So it comes to this...

Barca want to sell rather than risk losing him for nothing next year and they won't match his demands

Barca want to sell to fund their bid for Villa/Mascherano

Barca don't want to pay the £10m-£15m loyalty payments as it cuts into their transfer fee by around 50%

Eto'o is refusing to budge over the loyalty payment and his agent is calling Barca's bluff by arranging a press conference

Resolutions

Barca agree to pay the loyalty bonus or reach an agreement and Eto'o joins City.

City agree to help out with the fee

Eto'o and his agent realise they aren't getting the fee but still decide to jump ship

Eto'o and his agent play sill buggers and decide to fuck Barca and City off which pisses one of the only teams in the world who can afford him right off.

Hopefully common sense will prevail.

How can he be due a Loyalty Bonus of 15 Million Euros?

A Million I could understand, but 15? That is a deal-breaker. With the transfer window closing at the end of august, I can't see any of the parties being too ready to compromise any time soon.

I think City will move on. We can't be seen to be mugs i.e. pay up on monies allegedly owed to Eto'o by Barca, because it will compromise us in future negotiations.

If we were talking £1 Million, a deal could be done, but I don't understand how a player could accrue a loyalty bonus of this size?

Can we not just cross that pissing bridge when we come to it and stop with the "all is lost" vibe? Because either way, all will not be lost. What's happening here is only to be expected.
