I accept that is a possibility, however we have a population much larger than those countries and do not have the natural resource like Norway's gas, oil, copper, lead and timber

The biased, socialist leaning rag doesn't mention that the UK is a net contributor to the EU to the tune of a net £23 million per day so these projects were effectively funded by UK taxpayers money which was sent to Brussels. The EU took its cut for bureaucracy, expenses, chauffeurs etc and to give to foreigners before giving us the remainder back.

According to the MEN the EU money used for the 14 projects mentioned in its article comes to £74.7 million.

The UK would save that in just over 3 days if we quit the EU and stop giving it £23 million per day.

The MEN doesn't mention that either.

What wonderful new things could we have had in Manchester and elsewhere with the £8.4 billion the EU takes off us every year?

We are not in the Schengen area scheme so it would not apply to the UK.
