I agree they're unlikely to vote for independence, but that's a matter for the Scottish people. The whole 'vote Remain to keep the union together' line is a total red herring because the SNP will hold a second referendum regardless anyway. The clue is in the name of the party.

They will continue to bang the drum about a second referendum to appease the nationalistic few that will keep them in power within local councils and Holyrood but Sturgeon and Salmond know the game is up, they had their chance and the people rejected it and that was when Oil etc had a price!

Most SNP I know are furious with them and their stance that an Out vote would mean them wanting to be in as some sort of a federal Europe.

Its a bonkers position to take.

So Scotland votes to leave the British Union so they can be an independent nation. They then apply to join a European Union which means giving up their currency, and having laws passed by a foreign power that they have to abide by. Very strange.

Like I said, completely bonkers and even the wife's mothers fella up here who is so nationalistic its untrue has said he will vote out of the EU and will reconsider ever voting for the SNP again if they continue with such a ridiculous policy.

Wee Cranky is only interested in her lust for power. The consequences seem irrelevant to her and the rest of the caber tossers.

Maybe you'll be able to explain something that's been bugging me. Why are the SNP pro independence for Scotland but against Britain becoming an independent nation again? Freedom and democracy for Scotland but not Britain?

The snp are confused , given the reliance on oil they know making the same economic case for independence is now even harder.

Salmond on question time who has been through such a huge vote did give good advice to the electrorate and said do no believe the project fear camps on either side . It's very difficult to get a real sense of facts in such a heated debate and statistics just argue an often extreme polar view to support either side. People will just have to decide what is important to them and the country as best they can and decide what they think and vote accordingly. Democracy hey.

Out or in I don't think the uk is going to fall into the sea or gravity stop applying to the uk as people seem to present as a matter of fact. (the most laughable being gorgeous George being able to tell us precisely how worse off we will be in 15 years - I think I would rather believe mystic meg) Some of the over the top statements are just to scare people .

The SNP don't want an independent Scotland and never have. The just want independence from England. They just don't like us and never have. Having lived 5 years in the north of Scotland this could not have been made more clear to me despite the fact that in the local area pretty much everything was dependant on the two RAF bases and the money they brought to the region. It's fine by me and frankly if they really wanted independence they should have allowed the English to vote in their referendum.

No idea but it all sounds rather hypocritical at best and at worse, admittance that they cant survive alone and a life without the rest of the UK would mean a life being financially supported by Brussels...France....Germany etc.

As a regular visitor to that same part of Scotland, I had the same experience with the locals. A good proportion of them had a huge chip on their shoulder about the English. Good selection of whisky up there though.

Scotland is like a jobless 25 yr old that still lives at home. Wants to go it alone and be 'independent' but still needs handouts to survive. This is how the crazy UK out/EU in stance of the SNP has come about. They are a single issue party that should have sunk without trace after the referendum, but the implosion of Scottish labour caused a power vacuum that they are grateful to fill.
