Euro 2024

Difficult to go out at the group stage - even for England - when the 4 best 3rd placed sides get through out of 6 groups.
It's a joke the way it's been setup this time around imho
Portugal somehow won the tournament in 2016 despite finishing 3rd in their group and only winning one game in 90 mins. Drew 1-1 with Iceland, 0-0 with Austria, 3-3 with Hungary. Beat Croatia 1-0 in extra-time, beat Poland on penalties, beat Wales 2-0, then beat France 1-0 in extra-time in the final.

Awful stuff.

Can John Stones do the job

He can help, and against Iceland he was in a more advanced area looking to provide another body in the midfield. But against the best sides, he's going to be in his defensive position so someone else is going to have to look to collect the ball and dictate things. Bellingham is the best player to do it in my opinion. We've got options in the final third, we don't need him in those areas frequently, and timing a run from deep is probably better for him anyway. But when our back 4 has the ball he's the best player to pick it up and look to make things happen.

Forgive my ignorance but why is the England v Serbia game classed as a high security risk for the fans? Have I missed something somewhere? I know that every match these days seems to be a security risk but this one is seemingly more high risk than others.

"“The authorities rated that match from the start as high-risk,” Andreas Schaer, the managing director of Euro 2024, told BBC Sport."

Because based on media reports about 500 Serbian hooligans are turning up looking for trouble. No one seems to suggest there will be any attempts to stop them turning up and prevent the trouble, or why they're able to attend in the first place but England will always have a target on our back and the Serbians fancy a scrap. It will be okay though because they're only serving shandy at the stadium.

Thank you. It's amazing how it is always England that have the problems. :-(

On TS it says any surrounding bars, too. But yes in the ground and not allowed to take to the seats.
They are wrong. It is in the ground and a few bars dotted around the walkway on the outside of the Veltins arena. All the bars in Gelsenkirchen (25 min tram ride from the arena) are serving as normal. When we were there watching England in the QF in 2006, 90% of fans drank in the small town centre and then travelled to the ground 1-2 hours before the game started,

Serbs are culturally also big pals with the Russians. They see England fans as prime targets and will attack families, scarfers etc. Hopefully the German Police will be on top of it.

Engerland fans are totally innocent and happily acclimatise with the locals in every tournament away from home....

A large minority of cunts always ruin it for the genuine fans and I expect Germany will be the same.
