Europa League draw

Wouldnt be so quick to book flights until games are CONFIRMED ..........ie We could switch game around , also Braga are at home to Besiktas on the same night as Porto v City ..................There within 31 miles of each other i think so one game would have to switch ...

We will still be in the group of death if we won the Europa, the only way of getting seed 1 or 2 in the CL is if you either win the competition or be a runner up, semi or quarters on multiple occasions.

Wrong

well thats what i gather from european coeficiant rules.. how does it work then?

We're currently the 18th ranked team that is in a qualifying position through the league. 16 (Spurs) and 17 ( Dynamo Kiev) are out of Europe and catchable.

Nice!
What's bent about it though?

Just coincidence that the 5 English clubs got the toughest opponents possible.

Surely Arsenal getting Barca and Chelsea getting Real Madrid would be the worst possible draw. Porto will be difficult especially away but the match is played over 2 legs so we should be able to get a result. Ajax also aren't the team they used to be and United will probably turn them over easily.

Chelsea and Arsenal couldnt draw Barca or Real. If they could have it wouldnt have shocked me if they did.

got my flights booked. £80 when i started £120.98 by conclusion. Gatwick to Porto

Me too, going Weds, back Friday £75.98 with easyjet....

Dont forget there is the option of us playing the home leg first if we dont play on a Tuesday

no we're playing the 2nd leg at home at 5pm on wednesday 22nd february.

Couldn't be better for me! Just what I wanted: Portugal is just 45 minutes down the road from where I live!

If we beat Porto it could be back to Lisbon for the next round.

Thanks, Mr. Platini. The cheque's in the post!

Anyone know anything about Porto? Would be interested in the impressions of those who have seen them play. A bit of a scouting report as it were.

I've watched a couple of their games and they're pretty decent side.

They're main player is Brazilian Hulk ... demon of free kicker and built like a tank. Should be interesting game and defo worth watching!

Nah, just the way it's turned out. There's no way you could fix 5 matches in a draw which people are watching live.
The ties in the EL are good for its viewing figures, United / Ajax and us v Porto. Quite looking forward to it now.

Wonder what the odds of things "turning out" that way were.
Well explain how they could fix just one match on a live draw, let alone 5...
Besides, what would they have to gain? It's all about tele figures, so surely by the biggest clubs knocking themselves out, that would dwindle viewing figures in the next round?

Just coincidence that all 5 English teams got the toughest opponents possible I'm sure.
