European away games ticketing policy

Oh I see your concern is for everyone on the same points as you not just you and your chums.

So how many people does that impact on? 100 - 200 who may now have more chance of getting a ticket.

In comparison to everyone who has to queue, faces additional costs, loses time to enjoy there holiday. Also what about the other blues who have had any chance of getting a ticket removed?

Lets take your madrid example, when your mates made the cut on 12k loyalty points. What about those on 11k, 10k, 9k, 8k, 7k Loyalty points who fancied going, booking a trip but knew they had no chance through official means but deemed it worth the risk if people dropped out etc.

I have done it booked to Midjttland, Hamburg, Schalke knowing I could not get one of the club but ended up being helped out by fellow blues. Is that it for them now, they have no prospect of ever getting a ticket for a european away??

Also what about the guy who goes with his mate but his mates often get affected by his job? Previously he could have booked and passed the ticket on to a friend? What now he is forced to take the gamble and possibly face travelling alone because of the draconian ticket rules?

Also what happens to tickets which are returned at the last minute because fans are no longer able to go? Prior to this lads on lower points who had booked, and took the gamble, would have gobbled these tickets up and picked the up when abroad? What happens to them now, they remain empty and less blues get chance to enjoy the game.

So it might positively impact on a 100-200 or so but negatively effects everyone else, hence your belief in it being a good system is in the minority.

Of course this is even before discussing the discriminatory way football fans are treated.
great post.

the problem is that its not fair. I am in favour of the system if it does allow middle pointers to get tickets but it also means that high pointers, like myself, who actually do use their tickets are being dragged in to this farce. why on earth people like myself who in their 60,s shouldn't be queing in the pissing rain when the reasons behind it are nothing to do with me. I am using the ticket, I am not selling it on. I am and never have been a pisshead who giving the club a bad name and I am most certainly not a security risk. there is absolutely no reason to question my attendance in this manner.
You're right of course I and a lot on here know you travel we've seen you,to be fair though how do the club know this.I know lots on 18k plus points who attend just the games away they fancy and pass the rest on. Its a tough one to find a solution to unless we scrap points system and season ticket holders turn up and queue again first come first served.

Shame the older guys didn't take up your kind offer. I was invited into a good pub by a top Celtic fan, with friends holding my position in the queue. Surely the Club could exempt pensioners from this process. I doubt there is a lively points whoring scene involving over 65s. That said if it's about security, I saw two pensioners scrapping at the home game vs Kiev.

This had gone too far in Glasgow. Plus it's had knock on affects. My tickets for Spurs away didn't arrive until yesterday. I'm on the train down to London now so 1 days additional delay in receiving the ticket would have created more hassle.
Your keen . A night out in London it's ok for some . We don't get there until about 11 tomorrow.

I'm fucked if I am going to take a day off work and a near 500 mile round trip to queue up for a ticket !

Not everybody lives in/near Manchester, mate.

Fair enough mate, although usually there's a couple of home games before the next european trip. Surely the club could arrange something better, or perhaps even communicate their reasons for the current farce?

Why did we introduce this stupid rule, because some balloon who did similar at United thought it was a good idea. I didn't go to Glasgow but reading some of the comments about ticket collection, glad I didn't bother, despite a great game of football.

Reading the comments, the biggest pro argument for queuing in the rain seems to be the prevention of points whores, out of our allocation of 2700 how many sold tickets would of gone to these people, maybe a 100 at a guess. So 2600 fans have their day disrupted for the possible actions of a few.
To make it an even playing field, do tickets issued to players, staff and sponsors que up with their identification for their tickets, are their days equally disrupted, you know the answer, why is the genuine fan accepting this, where has the trust gone ?

Some of the suggestions leave me baffled. Some have suggested turning up with your travel and accommodation details before you are allowed to purchase a match ticket, why would I make travel plans if I wasn't sure of obtaining a ticket.

if the club are now issuing wrist bands like an all inclusive holiday, why not send it in the post with your ticket. Do away fans have to que in the Manchester rain to collect their tickets ? We seem to have created a time consuming, piss people off solution for a problem that didn't really exist.

The club really does need to make it's position clear on this, the why's and wherefore's. Too much confusion now.

At least tell us the reasoning behind it, it might make sense, although I doubt it very much.

Bill

They haven't because they can't. No reasoning can justify the impact and inconvenience what this decision results in. I will continue to do european aways but it wont be with City anymore. Wearing wrist bands and meeting points its like a cubs outing or school trip.

Are you on the minibus for Everton?
