European away games ticketing policy

I don't think many disagree with the principle, the issue is with the implementation, It is unacceptable to ask people who have already paid £50 for a ticket, incurred travelling and hotel expenses and taken time off work, to then queue for a couple of hours in the rain. In any other world, the though of having your paying customers inconvenienced in this way is incomprehensible. I'm sure some of our older or less mobile fans could make a case under disability rights or age concern because attending a football match should not involve standing for 2 hours in the rain.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the new system. They just need to sort out a much slicker operation when it comes to collecting the tickets which would involve having a lot more staff at peak times. It can't be too difficult for them to work out when those peak times are.

Agree. Whats wrong with a system that actually supplies a ticket to someone who is going to go to the game!!!!!
I don't like the system but a benefit is definitely that tickets go those attending the match...my main issue is about how it's done, if we are having to live with this going forward it has to be done well ie efficiently, quickly and without the moody 'welcome' from the door staff' ( although it must have been s**t for them on Wednesday ....but at least they were getting paid)

I agree in principle but it might take quite a time to plan for busy periods as I'd guess they'd vary depending on the distance etc. Glasgow is a busy city and there are a fair number of trains to the ground. the same could be said of Paris but the ground was much further from the collection point. BMG is different again as there's sod all in MG and we want to take advantage of free travel included with the match ticket. - And not everybody will stay in Dusseldorf.

It's not that difficult, as my flights and hotels are already booked for Barca and BMG.
I take printed confirmation to the Ticket Office, and they post the tickets special delivery to my hotel.

That's the exact system that served me well at Portugal 2004 and Germany 2006.

I agree with JGL07 - The easy way round the points whoring would be to stop giving points out for Euro aways, it wont eradicate people giving mates and family their ticket but i don't see that as a massive issue and its always gone on.

Totally disagree with the system why can the club not put your passport number on the ticket, and you have to show your passport with your ticket at the ground, could be checked by City staff (supported by local police to stop any trouble)before you get to the turnstile.
