European U21 Championships

According to talkshite we are to blame for U21 failure well the presenters agreed with a rag from Salisbury when he said we only have Joe Hart who's English.

Why why why do people in the country not realise that English players are simply not that good we are a third rate nation at best. This delusion that we should be competing for world cups is laughable we should scrap the England team it's a complete waste of time.

I think the whole "homegrown player" quota nonsense is hurting English player development. If the big clubs were allowed to structure their squad however they wanted to up and coming English talents from mid and bottom table clubs would have an easier time hung on to by their clubs instead of selling them at a young age at an inflated price (Phil Jones and Jordan Henderson come to mind) and those players don't always play on a regular basis. Also I think Phil Jones was more valuable to Blackburn than the money they got for him, which is the case with a lot of these types of transfers. Young English players at the development stage are better off as regular starters for mid-table clubs than they would be as rotation players for the top clubs, but the top clubs can afford to spend 15-20 million on a bench warmer just to satisfy the quota.

That doesn't look a bad squad, could have added Walker or Sturridge but not sure they qualify?

Every team, bar spain (I think) is missing some of it's best players...
Germany's have all been listed... Italy is missing De Sciglio, El Shaarawy and Balotelli..

I was actually impressed w how England played v Italy... they played tough, and while getting outplayed bad in the first half, the second they really gave Italy a go... But fell apart hard after that game.

How many of you are willing to see reform in the EPL to change this, at the expense of "revenue"?

Was thinking the same but the main problem is the u21 game is held it such low esteem in this country where as elsewhere around europe it is taken a lot more seriously and recognised as a stepping stone for progression into the senior national team.

Also it would probably help if young english players were a bit more willing to travel to other countries in europe to get games in their top divisions. Its very rare you see an english player in another european league.

Tell yer where some of these English youth players can go to, get some regular playing time NYCFC!!

We may then have a chance at WC 2018

Think this is the plan for some of our youth players in the future.
