Ever broken any bones?

4 fingers, all separate incidents, and 2 ribs.

Tip of the day, don't develop a cough with broken ribs :(

When my ribs were broken i got a cough, also laughing and any sudden movements hurt. Thus me saying despite shattering bones, the ribs was the worst.

I also pulled an intercostal muscle (muscle between ribs), which was a similar pain, did that sneezing really hard!!!

Every finger in my left hand including thumb, metacarple (shattered), 2 on my right, 2 knuckles, wrist, 2 ribs, ankle and stress fracture of my back.

Rib was the most painful i think.

How?? I want to hear the how :)

Most are sporting injuries, cricket and hockey, i played them at a decent level, they account for all of the fingers and thumb. Ankle playing footy and one of the knuckles was playing rugby, had hand stood on, during which i took up hockey by accident and realised i was good at it. Playing too much sport lead to the stress fracture and 6 months off any sport (drink, drugs and smoking fucked up my fitness in that time!!). Ribs was getting hit by a cricket ball batting.

One none sporting one was at school, my mate pushed me and i went arse over tit on a chair, taking a large locker with me that landed on my hand shattering a knuckle.

The most gruesome was the shattered metacarpal playing hockey, i tackled someone and they didnt like it, ran after me and launched their stick over my head, from behind and smashed my hand which was holding my stick. I swelling the size of a golf ball, surgery ensued and 8 weeks in plaster to stop any further bone drift. Wrist was also broken in same incident. It was 20 years ago so i didnt sue or anything just got on with it. If it had happened these days he'd have been arrested for assault. One of my team mates did chin the bloke but still it was completely out of order. People say its a girls game well i'd rather be punched that hit with a bit of wood.

Just remembered i also broke my arm when playing in goal, a fat fucker landed on it and a skull fracture when i was smacked with a bottle from behind in a scuffle outside the queen of hearts in fallowfield, got a kicking on the floor and ended up in MRI that night. Was in a right state.

From what you say you obviously throw yourself into whatever you are doing heart and soul - good for you hope a few broken bones didn't spoil it for you.

We played a game called shinty - got wacked on my brow brown which fractured and I had a corker of a black eye, when we moved onto hockey I couldn't do it was too scared of being clobbered again

Was a defender and as you say would often get stuck in rather than concede a goal, guess you could say i tracked back. I kept going back for more so it did spoil it for me at all. Playing for my county, north England, Midlands at hockey up to U21 level so you have to love it to do all the training. I was playing 6 days a week at one point, which resulted in the stress fracture.

We used to play each other at sports, rugby vs hockey at cricket, cricket vs rugby and hockey - even hockey vs cricket at rugby (football wasnt on the agenda - too soft!!). I'll never forget an England U21 rugby prop, a huge lad, running away from the ball at Hockey, because he was scared, he said a similar thing about being hit with a fist rather than a lump of wood.

Both ankles 6 times, 3 times each ankle 5 times playing footy, and the other jumping out of a girls bedroom window(her parents came home early), both sets of knuckles once on someone's head the other on a wall when I missed someone's head, and cheek bone after a wild west style kick off in turners bar in the Falklands...

Blimey and are your ankles ok after all that trauma or do you get pain now?

There ok, for now! do get some pain in them but not too much, not got full movement in them now, and not kicked a ball in anger for about 15 years, also the Achilles' tendon in me left foot is giving in on me, I've told me kids they can push me round in a wheelchair in a few years ha, but apart from that there good...

Oh and me knees are a bit knackered...
